For a picture of Curt Schilling with a cast and on crutches at today's parade, see:

Curt's in pretty bad shape for too much running around, such as campaigning. He is scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday, if his ankle is not too infected.
However, I believe the stories that he may have been pressured by union goons, etc., not just with respect to endorsements, but also over his and his wife's charitable activity. As I posted before on FR, that's just plain DESPICABLE!!!! It is also not out of line with some of my own experiences with union strong-arm tactics, which at one point effectively shut me up by getting me kicked out of a certain community organization.
Whatever happened, I think that it is premature, at the least, to say that "Shilling caved". We may find out more about this incident eventuallly, hopefully before the election where it might hurt Kerry. But just the fact that Shillling is for Bush says a lot, and makes the "Kerry-Red Sox" association blow up in Kerry's face!
According to one article I saw on Google News, Schilling called a Boston radio station and said that around half of the Red Sox are for Bush and the other half are for Kerry. (Schilling is just more outspoken than the other Bush supporters.) Once again, this shows that the idea that Kerry has been promoting, that he is and should be associated with the Red Sox and their victory, is just pure BUNK!!!!
Interesting! That's what I suspected all along.
That makes me feel a little better after witnessing Sox owners John Henry and Tom Werner (sans Larry Lucchino) and Gen. Manager Theo Epstein onstage today with sKerry in Manchester, NH, clapping at everything he said and presenting him with a flaming red "Boston Red Sox - World Series Champions 2004" T-shirt.
