"This will be directed by the interim Iraqi government," Hejlik said during a briefing with reporters. "They are calling the shots." I don't like that at all.

If you track with recent developments, they're playing the Najaf type of game, only NO SUNNI CLERIC IS GOING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN THIS TIME. Zarq's head, city reduced/cleared, period-paragraph-end of STORY.

training them interim iraqis is a lot like techin kids to drive. you can teach 'em, teach 'em and teach 'em, but at some point in time ya gotta give 'em the steerin' wheel. it can be scary at times, but most kids grow up to be adults. besides, if we kick the 'nsurgents butts, then the iraqis never learn the joy of protectin' liberty.
then again, the above words could merely have been stated to make it look like the iraqis are in control...

The 'interim Iraqi government' is our sock puppet. Our hand is all the way up and in. When they 'call a shot,' they will be calling a shot that we told them to call.
That's as it should be. When they can actually do the shoting themselves, then they can call their own shots.
