Well, Major Garret said on Fox that the talk in the Dem organization was that there was fear that Homeland Security would raise the terror alert a few days before the election and that would add to Bush's numbers in the poll.

But he then went on to note, with the new tape by OBL, the terror threat didn't have to be raised, the terror threat was on the TV in front of American's eyes.

The last thing the Kerry campaign wants is people remembering 9/11.

They want to focus on Iraq but have people forget what got us into Iraq in the first place.

This could have a real impact in NJ.

I agree. Think about it. Here is Osama himself reminding Americans of 9/11. I think that is all that will come through from this. Not any details of the speech. Just Osama/911. It makes me picture those buring towers in my mind more vividly than I have for a while. It helps Bush because he got us through it.

---The OBL tape does a few things: (1) the media has to cover it which leaves little time to discuss missing weapons and Haliburton(s) and (2) makes people remember that the terrorist are still out there and we're not safe.

Taking those 2 together they help Bush's message that the terrorist will never become a mere nuisance

Of course it helps Bush tremendously. The American people will rally around the CIC in time of war. UBL attacked Bush by name threatening new attacks. Do we (USA) cave into the craven, mutterings of a twisted zealot by electing a new President? Dobut it.

UBL's threats also places the focus back on the WOT in the closing days of the campaign. That has to help Bush, since he is seen by a large margin to be the best person to wage the WOT. Bush would have won anyway, but this removes all doubt IMO.

OH , I disagree. The tape REMINDS people that there is a REAL threat to the United States, and it is not just a nuisance. I think most people want to live and they will think about national security first...when they go into the voting booths.
