"In 1912, Kosovo and Methohija were liberated from the Ottoman Empire and incorporated into Serbia, and then entered into as (at least theoretically) an autonomous state at Yugoslavia's founding in 1919."

Kosovo and Metohia (Serb. Kosovo i Metohija), as the name indicates, consists of two parts, the latter being the Church's property. Some 1,600 churches and monasteries from various periods of Serbian history are found there. Now, K&M was never a clearly defined administrative area until the Commies came to power and designated it so in 1946, and then in 1953 and 1963 (the two revisions of the Constitution).

This was clearly done in order to marginalize Serbia. They carved it into three administrative regions (Central Serbia, Vojvodina in the north and Kosovo & Metohia in the south).

In short, for all practical purposes, Kosovo did not exist prior to 1946.

Just a clarification in regard to the above paragraph.
