I tell you... we are one step away from barbarity, at any moment..Yep. I've been saying that myself alot lately. Something is very wrong.

I had an odd thought, maybe this is a side effect of the desensitization to violence from video games our kids are exposed to. I think it was shock.

I think the latter is far more likely. I don't know too many kids who can't stop shrieking when they stub their toe.

Public executions?? How Islamic of you. Beheadings in our town squares maybe....very civilized. I'd rather watch the NBA if I need a dose of violence.

Oh I needed that story...Was already crying, I told my husband that housework was bad for your health...I tripped over something while carrying a heavy box of photo albums...that's when I needed a Freeper Lift...Glad I read that story...Now I have a real reason to cry...

When a victim survives only because of his own strenght or the heroics of others, the punishment for attempted murder should be just as severe as the punishment for murder.

Damn, damn damn. What a terrible thing to have happen. Thank God this poor boy survived -- I hope he lives this down in time. Words fail to express the sadness of an event like this.

Was this guy schizophrenic?
A guy I know went nuts and killed his mother with a knife a few months ago. He was schizophrenic and had even been in an institution for a few days before it happened, they deemed him no danger. Mental disease is not dealt with properly in this state (Washington) for fear of being politically incorrect.

I saw a blurb of this last night on Fox. Sickening.
Look at that precious little boy's face.

Can you please send the Army men or the ambulance?" Now THAT is what brings tears to my eyes. I hope the "Army Men" visit him. I am sure someone will-our military are the good guys.
To: eccentric
I agree as well. If your intention is to commit murder, and your victim somehow manages to survive, why should you get a lighter sentence?

One strike against a child, and you're DEAD. That should be the law.

There aren't enough details here to know what kind of system they have there, but it appears they did not have an address displayed for the dispatcher. There would only be a couple of reasons for this. 1) They do not have an enhanced system which shows caller name and address, along with which agencies to dipatch. 2) The caller made the call from a cell phone, which would not pinpoint his location.
I'm in this business and I can assure you there is plenty of federal money to pay for these things and a lot more. Usually these systems are funded through surcharges on telephone bills.

I wonder what Tacoma's tax-and-spend liberals have been doing instead of upgrading their 911 system.
That's the first thing I thought of too.
What a brave young man. His guardian angel was sitting on his shoulder.

I heard the tape yesterday on FOX and could not believe how people can be so crazy. They said the kid was in good condition and will be released to the mother's family.
The guy who did this should be strung-up literally
