I understand that, that is why I just can't understand why kerry was in the military in the first place...the only conclusion I can come to is that he is a traitor.

We had the draft then and sKerry would have been drafted. So he enlisted to try to have greater control over his destiny, assignment etc. there. IMO.

I think he joined the Navy (Reserves?) so he wouldn't be drafted into the army and really be on the frontlines. He might actually have to fight then. He did try to get out of it so he could go to France to some kind of school but it didn't work. He chose the easiest way out at any rate. Then tried to make sure he got out before he got shot. Unfortunately, the doofus keeps shooting off his mouth and shooting himself in the foot!
