Inside Politics: The black vote
The Washington Times ^ | 10/29/04 | Greg Pierce

"The Kerry campaign's concerns about its candidate's failure to rally black voters in numbers similar to those received by either the Gore or Clinton presidential campaigns have become a staple of the daily news," Peter Kirsanow writes at National Review Online.

"Whereas in most elections, a candidate's base support solidifies as the election approaches, several polls show that Kerry's black support has actually been eroding over the last two months," said Mr. Kirsanow, a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.

"Kerry's late-summer poll numbers among blacks hovered around 84 percent. By early October, that percentage had fallen to 74 percent. In the last several days, the percentages have slipped further. The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies poll puts Kerry's black support at 69 percent. A Pew Research poll gives Kerry 70 percent of the black vote. ...

"The bad news for Kerry is that even 86-87 percent of the black vote won't be enough to win on November 2."

Bro had an interesting conversation with a couple in DC where he lives. They are voting for Bush and said that while the DNC campaigns in churches from the pulpit and they are polite and "amening..," what lever they pull in the voting booth will shock the dems.

In early voting on Thursday my Florida county polling station had around 500 people outside waiting to get in to vote. This is the only polling station in a county with 13% blacks about like the national average. There were only two blacks in all the crowd. Just an anecdote, but it does seem the black vote is not too enthusiastic for a Boston Brahman.

You would think that after the Republican burned down all those black churches and turned the fire hoses on any blacks voting in the last election, more of them would be motivated to come out...

Our side should run a commercial of a republican fireman turning those fire hoses on the burning churchs and saving them.
