Here we go again...monster government trying to take more of the State's mandates away. As it stands, states are little more than revenue collectors for the Federal Government.

Sounds good to me, driving is a privilege and I see no reason not to standardize requirements and link all state databases. As long as the identity requirement is tough enough, it could help national security, with little pain (except in the offices of the ACLU).
