I'm not a lawyer. And I'd be insulted if I didn't know you better ;)
Loofing out for the folks!
Wow! "Settles" more often than not translates to "Guilty".
Since we will likely never know, we are both free to sit tight in our opinions.
Sir! I will have you know I don't whizz into the wind - electric fences - now that is another matter.
I'm with you.
I have no doubt that this is so and with honorable parties makes sense but she's a scammer who no doubt has copies, hell I would. So we might see them, who knows? she might burn through the money so it won't matter to her monetarily to release them when she's broke to make more money.
>>>Sir! I will have you know I don't whizz into the wind - electric fences - now that is another matter.
Whatever gives you a charge...
Yes. It could mean that Mackris was guilty of extortion. If she had no tapes, then she knew she was going to lose, and might be hit with a big extortion judgment.
Then he went on TV opposite Hannity and I thought, " he's not so bad after all".
If she folded first - why did BOR also settle and seal the case? bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Ha! I read that headline and I thought he finally decided who he was going to vote for for President.
"...all Parties have agreed that there was no wrongdoing whatsoever by Mr. O'Reilly, Ms. Mackris, or Ms. Mackris' counsel,"
Well then, I think it must have been an October Surprise, orchestrated by the Kerry campaign to take the pressure off of Kerry's pathetic "plan" that has flopped to terribly in the public's eye.
Here's a brief for you, Mr. Lawyer - we don't care about your terminology. O'Reilly's guilty regardless of jargon. Nobody here is foolish enough to believe he admitted to such in his settlement. It doesn't matter, it's clear he's guilty.
Then why did she settle? Are we to believe that BOR is a classical gentleman in this case.
He wants it over. She may have admitted she had nothing.
You just don't know.
But we do know that you adulterate headlines on Free Republic.
> If she had no tapes, ...
Even if she did have tapes, her side did not conduct this
as a harrassment complaint.
BoR keeps his money.
She stays out of jail.
Both reputations trashed.
No tears here.
Who knows? But we do know (since she blabbed to everybody she could) that she was out to get him.
Dear sinkspur,
"She asked for the settlement. Last week. She folded first. She had no case."
Yeah, so what? If you think you can get a few million without having to go to trial over going to trial and getting more, why not take the money and run?
If it were me, I'd rather take a few mill in the hand, no fuss, no muss, then hold out for a chance for more, knowing what I'd be in for.
"Since we will likely never know, we are both free to sit tight in our opinions."
For sure? No.
But, if they didn't pay anything, Fox wants the whole world to know, big time. If they didn't pay anything, then her case was so bad, they didn't have to agree to silence.
