Yep. It looked phony to me. False bravado on the part of the "terrorist," who's certainly not going to frighten anybody with his tenor voice.

False bravado would be a redundancy, as bravado means false courage. I teach high school English, and yesterday I was explaining this, illustrating with the song from the 70s "Baby Come Back" which contains a triple redundancy: "...wearing a mask of false bravado..."
Otherwise, thanks for the post. I have been searching for it during lunch here in Hawaii (6 hrs behind the East) but there is a soap opera on. We all pray that it is nothing but bravado.
