AP NewsBreak: FBI begins investigating how Halliburton got Bush administration contracts
By JOHN SOLOMON
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON (AP) - The FBI has begun investigating whether the Pentagon improperly awarded no-bid contracts to Halliburton Co., seeking an interview with a top Army contracting officer and collecting documents from several government offices.
The line of inquiry expands an earlier FBI investigation into whether Halliburton overcharged taxpayers for fuel in Iraq, and it elevates to a criminal matter the election-year question of whether the Bush administration showed favoritism to Vice President Dick Cheney's former company.
FBI agents this week sought permission to interview Bunnatine Greenhouse, the Army Corps of Engineers' chief contracting officer who went public last weekend with allegations that her agency unfairly awarded a Halliburton subsidiary no-bid contracts worth billions of dollars in Iraq, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.
Jaimie Gorelick is a member of the board of Schlumberger.
Funny how we never hear about that.
Didn't Clinton hire Halliburton too because they were the only qualified company to do the work? Does the FBI know this? I thought everyone knew by now....
The MSM is really putting themselves on the edge of the cliff for the Kerry campaign. The Bush victory is going to be even sweeter knowing that the MSM destroyed itself trying to get Kerry to the White House.

aw Jeez not this $h!T again
Moose, I think you are right. I've also been wondering if there might be a back door attack through Cheney with some 'new' revelation about Halliburton, that evil empire. All they need is a 1-2% swing or a similar reduction in turnout. On the other hand, what type of revelation about Kerry would dissuade his base from coming out? Let's see - they are pacifists, yet give him a wink about his war hero status. He is filthy rich because of his use of women, yet he gets a pass from the feminists. They are animal rights activists, yet he kills a goose. The worst thing that could be leaked about him to suppress his base would be??? Turnout is key, of course. A_R

I listened to the woman's lawyer om Hardball earlier and he said her concern was it was not out to bid on for minority companies. She oversees that business is fair to minority companies.
I would like her to tell us exactly what minority companies were in a position to contract that kind of services to Iraq immmediately. Why didn't she complain when Bill Clinton awarded Halliburton a no bid contract?!
P O L I T I C S
Uh, no, I doubt they are. The FBI would turn any evidence of crime by high administration officials to the Justice Department and then run very far away from the investigation as fast as they could until/unless some kind of special prosecutor was appointed.
