Very good news. Now step on Kerry's throat and finish him off.
Amen!
I've noticed that footage of Bush rallies almost always show huge, enthusiastic crowds of tens of thousands of people in gigantic venues like stadiums... does such a big rally turnout demoralize the opposition?
I do not know either. But even in the 2002 midterm elections, Bush's presence was a huge help. Your guess as to why is as good as any.
Kennedy, in trouble in Texas and much of the south made that fateful trip because "when Airforce One touches down in a state it is worth 5 points."
Thanks for sharing these posts. They are very reassuring.
You were one of the agreeable ones, now I remember. You are right, too. Think that would constitute a landslide?
BTW, President Bush was introduced by the Democratic Mayor of Youngstown, Ohio, who whipped the crowd into a frenzy; the man's genuine affection and respect for the President is very real, and it ignited the audience--he needs to appear everywhere in Ohio with the President until election day. The President didn't disappoint. He is extraordinarily effective on the stump and connects with the audience, even when there are 5,000 people (or more) in attendance. He made his case very effectively, and forcefully, while getting in a few standard digs at John Francois Kerry. I saw the President at the rally in Troy, OH back in August, and he was even better today than he was a couple of months ago.
> Let not your heart be troubled...the GOP base is energized here in Ohio. However, we have not sealed the deal. If you're in the Buckeye State (or nearby) call a county GOP office and volunteer. Lots of us will be working throughout the weekend, but we still need help. If you're not within driving distance, call the State Republican Party or one of the county offices, get their address, and FedEx a check. It's too late to contribute to individual candidates at this stage of the race, but you can still give to the party, and rest assured, your money will be put to good use.
If you want to get W re-elected, spend the weekend with us here in Ohio--you can make a difference.
I was saying 58 percent early on, but so were alot of others.
I had begun to wonder, but maybe it was right on, after all.
Don't worry about pinging me, LJ, I'll be watching.
I would think that except for the fact the the girls said on stage at the RNC that Bushies was a term their parents used for each other.
Bush is speaking in Westlake Ohio right now, a westside suburb of Cleveland. It is also in Dennis the Manace territory. Not sure where he is headed after this stop. No reports yet on crowd size.
"Perhaps I'm just politically naive, but I really don't understand how a simple rally or visit from a candidate can turn public opinion and the poll results so dramatically. Why is this?"
When people see President Bush in their backyard drawing large and enthusiastic crowds, and when they hear his sound words of hope and clear, unwavering dispelling of the latest opportunistic yawnings of Kerry, they begin to see through the fog and smoke arising from the mainstream meadia and the left-bank Kerry campaign. They see the difference between a man who believes in principles and a man who abuses politics."
Most assuredly, Lady Jag! :)
Electoral Vote is not accurate because it uses the latest poll for each state, which in many cases is some University poll. So if Gallup has Bush up by 8 in Florida and the next day Janet Reno University has Kerry up by 2, he gives the state to Kerry.
Go to RealClearPolitics.com - this site averages all of the polls, and has Bush up in the EV count.
This jibes with what I also heard last week from a longtime GOP operative. He said that the polls would tighten over the weekend and early in the week, as peple take one last look at Kerry; then later this week and over the weekend we will see a major move toward President Bush. He also said that by continuing to attack Bush right up to Election Day, Kerry is all but guaranteeing that the undecideds and his own "soft" supporters are going to break for President Bush.
It took me a long time to agree, but I'm firm on it now. Virtually no Kerry signs in Mass, Sales of campaign paraphernalia 65%-35%, and the MSM, possibly for revenue reasons, slowly inching Bush numbers up to where they belong.
The response was overwhelming. Many I put in the "probably sorta leaning Bush" category responded, absolutely ripping Kerry and fired up. So cool.
If we pick up Michigan, we can lose Ohio, and it's a wash.
Oh, mywholebodyisaweapon, may I see it, please?
