There is one thing that would help more than releasing the video, and that is upping the terror alert level. And if the government doesn't think the threat is real or specific enought to raise the threat level, then why should we try to exploit terror for political gain? It's beneath us. I'm only interested in the political aspect of this story as secondary to public safety.
You have the correct answer. Whatever else the tape contains, it is an attempt to influence our election and to me it doesn't matter who it would help or hinder. The bastards should not be allowed to affect the vote in any way.
