In a letter of clarification requested by a traveling minister, the Internal Revenue Service has declared people gathered in tax-exempt churches can't pray for President Bush to win the election on Tuesday.

Psalm 102:1 Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.
Psalm 61:1 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
JUST WATCH US PRAY!
With the exception for Black Churches, of course....
But churches can endorse Lurch from the pulpit and allow his fans to be given out? Hmmm...
Wanna bet? They can't be everywhere, this is a threat from the IRS. We will pray and they can't stop it!
I can pray and ask to God interven for whoever I want. See if sinister kerry gets into office this is the type of garbage he will try to enforce. This just lets me know that their goose is cooked.....
Right- unless you are a black church
i wish that Bush would find a conservative half black half white church to do his preaching in
Who controls the budget for the IRS? CONGRESS! Who controls Congress? For some reason, I thought the Republicans did. START ACTING LIKE THE MAJORITY PARTY.
Father, please uphold George Bush and guide him. Give him wisdom and a straight path to defeat the enemy.
Scatter his enemies like chaff in the wind and destroy all the machinations, plots, and frauds against him.
Everything is in Your Infinite Will, Lord, but please hear my plea.
I ask this in Jesus Name, Your Son, Our Lord. Amen
I will pray extra loud and hard now. I never did like it when someone tries to tell me what to do...Then that is the very thing I want to do!! Paul said that in the Bible ya know...
Am I slow from so little sleep last night?
Hellooo...? Separation of Church and State!
BITS
Second Amendment time to the IRS!
I agree with this believer in Jesus' name--let the evil doers flee before the presence of Almighty God! Let the truth of God prevail over the plans of men. May their hills of resistance melt like wax at the presence of the Lord! If God is for us, who can be against us!
So, does the IRS consider prayer speech? Or, are they saying it's something else? Apparently they don't consider prayer speech and protected. Then what is it?
Hmm. So people can go to church, then all stand up and walk out onto the sidewalk, pray for Bush, then walk back in and that's OK?
Insanity!
Actually, the IRS can't say this. Prayer is not a form of electioneering.
This means that the IRS is therefore interfering in religion.
That's how I see it.
Oh lord, please allow the Bush of Knowledge to lead our nation through these next 4 years, comforting us in these troubling times.
WOW. Now coems the IRS to say what people can and cannot speak when they gather together in an assembly.
Have we ever seen a better example of why the IRS should pass along into the "history" books?
We are "controlled" by taxation. That is wrong.
I think the issue is if the prayer is directed by church leadership.
Sadly, there's no such thing as freedom of speech behind the pulpit.
I suppose it's okay to pray for the abolishment of the IRS though... :o)
