Sorry for doing this, but i originally posted in the general forum, being a new poster, but this is a serious question, and i'm trying to get an opinion if this could comfirm a dishonorable discharge. I found an a/v file on c-span of an interview with kerry that seems to me sounds like he did have a dishonorable discharge, which would correspond with the Thomas Lipscomb article from the NY Sun about how a fix may have been done to clear kerry's service record. here is a link to my original post - original link

prior background threads October Surprise??? Navy Chief (from SBVT site) Navy:Undesirable/General Discharges for Civilian Misconduct While on Inactive Duty Reserve Status

my apologies about the relink.

It's funny. In this quote, It sure sounds like Kerry is saying he was definately dishonorably discharged.

We should look up articles from this reporter to see if there was any mention at the time.

Absent a full disclosure of all his pertinent military records, which would require Kerry's signature on an SF180, you are just not going to find absolute "confirmation" of anything other than an Honorable discharge. That said, the fact that Kerry has consistently avoided signing like the plague, speaks volumes to anyone who has been paying attention...

kerry testified to Congress, to commotting atroces/war craimes, actively worked with the N. Viet. to undermine our men. He is without a doubt the most openly tresonous person to ever be nominated for the office of the Presidency. NOTHING could be more clear! He IS a crimmina!

It would be funny if someone "found" a dishonerable discharge certificate for Kerry and sent it to a friendly news source. A sort of Rather memogate in reverse.

...all in fun, of course.

First, this issue is compounded by a confusion of terms. In the military, only enlisted are discharged, officers are separated, retired, or dismissed. Dismissal is the equivlent of a Dishonorable Discharge that enlisted receive. It can only be given through conviction of a general courts-martial. But both enlisted and officers receive a form when the leave the military. It is a DD (Department of Defense) Form 214, Record of Service. On that form is recorded a reason for discharge or separation as well as a term describing the individual's "Character of Service." A person's Character of Service can be described as Honorable or not Honorable. I think this is what many are referring to when they talk about Kerry receiving or not receiving a honorable discharge.
