Maybe, but last time he bashed Bush he was being interviewed for a movie, too. You know they'll ask and he'll probably answer.
Wake up and listen to the Catholic spokesman that have been all over the secular media. They are saying that abortion and war are both life issues and that Catholics are within their conscience to consider the war issue as a threat to life as well.
You're not Catholic, are you?
To what purpose? To obfuscate the question?
The point is when last asked, Gibson bashed Bush. We can take a tour of all of his positions, but it hardly seems relevant to the question at hand: the election.
Ad hominem... and strawman. Let's stick to the issue and what the spokesmen have been saying. There have been several pointed interviews on FOX recently covering the issue.
Those "catholic spokesman" don't speak for the majority of orthodox Catholics, nor The Church. The war and abortion are NOT equal issues. Abortion is the #1 issue to stand against.
Please recheck your sources. Thanks.

And I can find a number more. All I've read/heard are basing it on instructions from the Vatican. The message is pointed: war may well trump abortion. And, whether you want to admit it or not, not all Catholics are conservative, practicing, or prolife.
You are accusing Gibson of not being conservative, and you can't site any examples other than his quip on a interview.
How much more of his reputation are you going to try to smear with your baseless opinion?
I don't have to "cite examples." You made the claim he was conservative. Feel free to prove it. I'll read your evidence as soon as you post it.
I am a Catholic. I asked you the question so that I would know how to further respond to your points.
Just to fill you in. Regardless of what you may have heard in the secular media from one Catholic spokesperson or another, the issues of the Iraq war and abortion are NOT morally equivalentto the Church.
The teaching of the Church on this issue is not ambiguous. Abortion is intrinsically evil. It is the obligation of Catholics to oppose it always and everywhere. War, on the other hand, like the death penalty, is not considered an intrinsic evil, even though the Church opposes both.
Well I hope Mel Gibson is going to say something nice about President Bush tomorrow if he is indeed talking about the President. I hope he doesn't qualify it with any "buts". If he's going to support the President, I hope he supports the President.
You not belonging to The Church (according to your "about me" page) might not be aware of this.
Try another source.
I'd be happy to. You going to be up late tonight? Or would you like to read them tomorrow?
Doesn't sound like a man we can be sure will be endorsing the President, does it?
I'm a Gibson fan, but I'm also a realist. Better that than a blind devotee.
I do not now have nor have I ever created an "about me" page. Try again.
At any rate, strawman. The argument isn't about me. Nor is it about the NCR. What it is about is the fact that there are many Catholics who see the war as a bigger problem than Kerry's refusal to act politically on life issues. I wish that wasn't the case, but wishing doesn't make it so.
Otherwise, please explain the history of the Catholic vote. A signficant portion goes to the Democrats -- both historically and today.
Beg your pardon, but where in the above posts did I "make the claim" that he was conservative?
You can't. Because I never stated as such. I only asked you to back up your opinion, and you refuse.
You can't even prove your baseless accusations and smears.
You are sitting here bashing Gibson's reputation in your post #33, saying he's "not as conservative as you think," and can't even back it up with examples.
At least if you're going to slam someone (as you claim Gibson did to Bush) be the bigger person and site it. I can respect you for your opinion, if you can back it up. Even if we don't agree.
That is a true statement, sadly enough. They are Catholics who don't know the tenets of their own Church.
Honest misake, sorry about that.
And stop calling me a strawman.
Post 54. One more than you've provided.
I called the argument a strawman, not you. No Wizard of Oz characterization intended.
