If you're planning to get hitched and have kids - O.P.'s your best bet. Tell her to start packing.

If you're coming from Illinois, then you won't have to worry about giving up your 2nd Amendment rights. For the most part, they don't exist in Illinois, much like here in Nebraska.

I've lived in KC for 35 years. It's a great town to live in and raise a family in. The taxes are higher on the Kansas side of the line (Johnson County & Wyandotte County). Best areas to live are south of the plaza, Lees Summit and Blue Springs areas.

We have a lot of great entertainment....Chiefs, Royals, American Royal BBQ....but beware...the politics is a tab bit liberal, but the suburbs are growing more conservative every day.

KC is known as the eastern most western city in America....and it's true....we do have cowtown roots, but is that a bad thing?....At least our sidewalks don't reek of urine like some do back east.

Kansas City, Missouri = Good!
Kansas City, Kansas = Bad!!

No longer true. KCK has some really nice areas in the western part of the city.

Moved to KC about 17 years ago.

For living, go southwest of the plaza, southeast of I435, or southwest of I435, or north near the airport.
KC, MO or KC, KS proper isn't all that great. Move to a suburb. Those mentioned already should suffice.
Depending on what you do for a living, you may, or may not, find a job waiting for you. Personal chefs are always in season. ;^)
The food is pretty good except for seafood. There are only a couple of places, and pretty pricey, that have fresh seafood.

All in all it's a pretty good area to live in. I've been to my fair share of medium large to large citys and KC is one of the better ones.

Well I think KC is a large city If I remember right they have 600,000 people (in the 400s in Missouri & in the 100s in Kansas)

I checked on a map & the city covers 5 counties!!! (2 in Kansas & 3 in Missouri)

Thanks 4 your advice
