Another outstanding example of a leading edge news story.

Here's my take: The Chiefs will not make the playoffs. Duh.

Eat at Stroud's, best fried chicken on the planet, the bar-b-que sucks in KC however.

Stay out of KC - MO. or KS. Go south of 435 into Overland Park and Bob's your uncle!

I am not from KC, Mo nor do I live there but it is my favorite American city. I loved it the first time I went there; as soon as I drove into the city limits.

If I could live in any city in America, it would be KC, MO.

I spent two months in KC Mo. in the late 90's. I worked for a subsidiary of Tension Envelope Co., which is located in downtown KC. From what I could tell from my brief stay. The area South south east of downtown is real bad. one of the highest crime rates in the country. Southwest is a up scale, trendy college neighborhood that is probably the best area of KC central. However you would proably find nice suburb communities of Independence and Sugar Creek to be livable. You may want to vacation there for a week and get your feet wet.

They have a giant statue of Dorthy and Toto there, and you'll find that people hum and sing "we're off to see the wizard" alot.

I lived in KC MO for about 6 years and it's a great place to live. I always meant to move back, but 22 years later, I'm still in Texas.

There are some neat old neighborhoods in the city, but they're probably a little pricey. Otherwise, I recommend the southern or southwest suburbs...

...and don't listen to bigfootbob...Kansas City bar-b-que is the best in the world.

Johnson County in Kansas (Overland Park, Shawnee, Lenexa, Prairie Village, Olathe, etc) and Clay or Platte Counties in Missouri (Liberty, Gladstone, Parkville) are good suburbian areas. Blue Springs and Liberty are also very good. Taxes are a little higher in Kansas. Kansas City MO has the earnings tax, which is to be avoided. Politics are moderate conservative except for Jackson County in Missouri and Wyandotte County in Kansas, which are liberal. The KC Star is a liberal rag. The KC area has the best BBQ in the country.

I've never been there but here is what I know. There is a Mennonite flop house there where John Kerry once met with people who wanted to kill senators.

Greenwood, a southern suburb, is home to the best Moto Guzzi dealership in North America, Harper's.

Do they still choke their own chickens? I lived there for several years, and when (or if) I ever move back to the U.S., it's where I'd live again. Overland Park and Johnson county are OK in their own way, but they're no different than any other suburban, bedroom community anywhere else in the U.S. KCMO is sort of western, sort of southern. You find rednecks and artsy-fartsy types living in the same block. Housing -- at least when I lived there -- was relatively inexpensive, and like a lot of midwestern cities, apartments were much bigger than those in other parts of the country.

Culture in Kansas City ?
Kansas City has got culture out the wazoo.

Museums, Galleries, Uppity Boutiques,
but more important make sure you take I-70 East
to Columbia and look for the 30 foot tall Elvis.
It's near there you'll find the Elvis Presley Memorial Musuem.
A house converted to a living tribute to the King.

Our favorite room was the one had a Walmart mannequin
wearing an Elvis wig laying in a coffin surrounded by
plastic flowers while a cassette player played an
inspiring organ rendition of "Bringing in the Sheep"
over and over and over and over.
It was spiritual experience beyond my expectations.
My wife, a former psychic for a 900 number hot line
said the spirit of Elvis was there and was so delighted
with our company he lifted one leg to cut a juicy one.

(she said Elvis did it, although I had to leave the
room as Elvis must have had white castles for lunch)
Make sure you take your best camera for pictures.

For fine dining, Kansas City also has a network of
very exclusive "Members Only" clubs. We the elite here
in the heartland call them "La' Sam's Wholesale Club"

Every Tuesday we lunch at "La'Sams" where sultry servers
hand out free egg rolls and weenies on toothpicks.
After lunch we take a stroll in the automotive section where
the romantic aroma of new tires fills the air.

Next we visit the patio furniture displays for a
light nap followed by a spirited game of dodge ball
in the toy section.

Hope you consider making Kansas City your home.
We're friendly people that obviously reek with
culture and sincerity. But also because for the
most part we just don't take ourselves very seriously.
