PRESIDENT BUSH should hold WH press conference and slam Kerry over phony weapons dump story
DFU | 10-27-04 | dfu

One of the great powers of incumbent president running for re-election is the power of the office itself. Tied to that is the fact that he can call a press conference in his home and get the top journalists there on a moment's notice.

The NY TIMES weapons hit piece was phony. That is becoming clear. The president should hold a news conference immediately and call Kerry on the story.

He should note that, although the entire story is not yet known, all the evidence points to the fact that it was gone before our troops arrived. Kerry jumped the gun and did not have the facts. Particularly while we are at war, a commander in chief must do better than that.

Just like three decades ago, Kerry has turned on our troops. Bush should actually quote his words from before -- cutting off ears, cutting off heads, etc.

The president should say that the troops need total support if we are to win the war on terror. This nation does not need second guessing from a person who keeps changing his position depending on how the political wind blows.

The President is acting presidential. Dick Morris said tonight that Kerry is dog meat and in particular by jumping on this story.

He had CBS, NYT and all the MSM doing his heavy lifting for him - he should have stood back and talked about domestic issues.

But he chose to jump in and now he goes down with the lie - HOW SWEET IT IS!

I have a question and can't find a thread to post it on so if anyone has an answer to this I'd appreciate it..On Bill O'Reilly tonight he was talking about the Big Dig? What is that and why did Kerry get $500,000? And did he get that personally? I'm confused.

Thanks Doug. I think it is in keeping with his stump speech, keeps him from being labeled as someone who governs according to media reports, and demoralizes Kerry supporters who really thought that the Slimes/SeeBS and the follow-up by the others in the MSM/DNC cadre was going to hurt Bush.

It's all too funny - they all wanted this sheet to be true soooo bad.

That's what John Edwards would have done if he was their top choice, and why I believe he would've done better than Kerry (but still would lose). The fact that Kerry is taking Edwards down with him makes the coming victory all that much more sweet.

I never heard about it either. Something in Mass I assume that he got a kickback for that the taxpayers paid for and he profitted. It was during his "mock" kerry interview and at the end he said, well that's too bad that we're out 1 million bucks in the treasury...Must not be a big deal or someone would report it...

I agree the Kerry Campaign is imploding. They can't even keep the stories straight anymore. Kerry is going to get knocked about the UN Security Council meeting lies he told that got glossed over becasue of this non-issue about al quaqaa. Kerry got some splainin to do..

“The President should continue to stick to his strategy, it's clearly working for him.”

Oh really? Does that explain why Zogby’s new poll shows Kerry now up in most key swing states?

The RNC and Carl Rove are the ones who are totally incompetent.

this must not come from the president. let him do his job the way he and rove think is best. however, a colin powell and/or rumsfeld press debriefing could be quite interesting and entertaining.

That might be a good way to go about getting the message out.

His name is "Karl".

As for Zogby, believe him as you wish. :-)

>Course, there is always the thought that when your opponent is destroying himself, get out of his way.

I agree... I said something to this affect some time last week.... that sKerry (and all his cronies; Mama "T", Liz "Fat A$$" Edwards, et al) was doing a pretty good job diggin' their own graves!!!

Yes... Thank you God!

I sure hope that if you plan on voting to re-elect G.W. Bush, please show up at your voting station on Nov. 02, 2004 - unless, you are planning to vote for sKerry, then I think they might have the voting station open "just for you" on Nov. 03!!!

Just pickin' on you, of course!

IMO, any Dem besides Kerry could have done better - think of Liebermann for instance; Kerry simply can't win - he made too many mistakes.

A presidential press conference would be fine if it served as contrast to Kerry's avoidance of questions and made it obvious that Kerry is a pig in a poke (at least to non-conservatives---we conservatives know what he is!)

However, what is a press conference but a Blamestream Media free-for-all at the President's expense?
