Morrissey (UK pop star living in US) official US election statement
morrisseymusic.com ^ | 27th October 2004

Posted on 10/27/2004 5:22:01 PM PDT by johnpeel

From Morrissey's own website:

“With all my heart I urge people to vote against George Bush. Jon Stewart would be ideal, but John Kerry is the logical and sane move. It does not need to be said yet again, but Bush has single-handedly turned the United States into the most neurotic and terror-obsessed country on the planet. For non-Americans, the United States is suddenly not a very nice place to visit because US immigration officers – under the rules of Bush – now conduct themselves with all the charm and unanswerable indignation of Hitler’s SS.

Please bring sanity and intelligence back to the United States.

Don’t forget to vote.

Vote for John Kerry and get rid of George Bush”

Didn't this guy strangle himself to death?

That was Mama Cass. Strangled herself to death with a ham samwich, don't axe how. Morrisey was the lead singer of the Doors who drowned in a bathtub in the same hotel Paris where Princess Diana later blowed a Saudi prince for the last time, and where he's buried (in Paris, not in the hotel, and Morrisey, not the Saudi prince.) Who's this clown? A celebrity impersonator? He oughta be arrested.

Scary thought since Morrisey's an old queen and probably some kind of vegan crank.

He's both... and that's probably the reason WHY he's such a gloomy sack o' crap.

Nice to know that Jon Stewart has the Homo Vegan vote sewn up.

This is coming from a man that wanted to start his world concert tour in El Centro California.

Any moron who would decide such an important vote based on what some has-been rock star has to say should not be allowed to vote. I am totally serious when I say every potential voter should have to name the current state reps and the cabinet before they are allowed to vote for President. This would cut back on the lack of informed voters just going out and voting "against" Bush.

Interesting that they are not really voting "for" Kerry--he has no real qualifications or positions. He has never acutally managed anyone--unless you want to count the war, and you know how his fellow soldiers felt about his job there. In spite of all that, these DEMwits think he can run a nation.

Isn't this from the Englishman who hates his own country?

His last album was dreadful. Perhaps he could join the other "has beens for Kerry".

At least XTC , The Cure and Robyn Hitchcock keep their political views to themselves for the most part .

I wish that were true about XTC. They're probably my favorite band but they definately have a few songs like "Melt the Guns" and "Living Through Another Cuba" that are very leftist and anti-American, I just skip those songs, but Andy's other stuff is too good for me to just remove them from my list.

" I wish that were true about XTC "

What I meant to convey was Andy and Colin don't voice their political beliefs on the XTC website or go on TV and tell people to vote for so and so , unlike Morrissey and others .

I love Morrissey for his music.

Not his politics.
