THE RAW DEAL: Kerry Will "Always Support" The Troops - Except When He Doesn't

"John Kerry said that a vote against funding for troops would be 'irresponsible' and that no Senator would 'abandon our troops' by voting against them. Unfortunately, that is exactly what John Kerry did, and what is worse, he voted against the troops for political gain. It is amazing that the Kerry campaign is running an ad claiming he will 'always support and honor those who serve' when he did just the opposite when given the chance during the primaries. If John Kerry can't make the right decisions in the face of political pressure from Howard Dean, how can he be expected to stand up to the terrorists?"

Kerry Says He Will "Always Support" The Troops In A New Ad
Kerry Ad: "We Will Always Support And Honor Those Who Serve." "Our soldiers fighting in Iraq are heroes, their families have earned our thanks and our support. As we see the deepening crisis and chaos in Iraq, as we choose a new commander-in-chief and a fresh start, we will always support and honor those who serve. Strength. Courage. Patriotism." (Kerry Press Release, "New Kerry Ad Honors America's Troops," 10/27/04)
But Kerry Voted Against The Troops Because Of Pressure From Howard Dean
Kerry Said It Would Be "Irresponsible" To Vote Against Funding Troops. "I don't think any United States senator is going to abandon our troops and recklessly leave Iraq to whatever follows as a result of simply cutting and running. That's irresponsible." (CBS' "Face The Nation," 9/14/03)
Senators Kerry And Edwards Are Two Of Only Four US Senators Who Voted For The Use Of Force Resolution Against Iraq And Against The $87 Billion Supplemental Supporting Our Troops.
Kerry Adviser On Vote Against The $87 Billion Appropriation: "Off The Record, He Did It Because Of Howard Dean. On The Record, He Has An Elaborate Explanation." (Philip Gourevitch, "Damage Control," The New Yorker, 7/26/04)
Biden Says Kerry's Decision To Vote Against The Iraq Supplemental Was An Attempt "To Prove To Dean's Guys" That He Was "Not A Warmonger." (Philip Gourevitch, "Damage Control," The New Yorker, 7/26/04)
Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) Said Kerry Focused More On The Politics Of The Iraq Supplemental. "The truth is, he usually spends more time talking about the politics of a vote--at least he does with me--and that was certainly the case on the $ 87 billion." (Joe Klein, "Inside The Mind Of John Kerry," Time Magazine, 8/2/04)

Kerry's latest "plan" of attacking Bush on the "missing" explosives is a direct attack on the troops, specifically the 3rd ID and 101st. Bush isn't the on-scene commander and even a dummy like Kerry knows it. Even IF what Kerry says is true, it is an attack on our troops, not on Bush, no matter how he frames it.

Kerry Ad: "We Will Always Support And Honor Those Who Serve." Now as a Viet Nam era Vet I some how find that comment reassuring. (/sarcasm)
