Presidential candidate John Kerry will hold a rally on West Washington between Broom and Bedford streets on Thursday. It is currently scheduled for about noon, with gates opening at 10:00 a.m. WEAC will be providing bus transportation to and from the rally, with buses leaving from the Alliant Energy Center. The buses will begin shuttling members at 10:30 a.m. More information will be posted as it becomes available
I'm sure they will shut down school for the day under the guise of "Teacher Training".
From your link:
WEAC Convention is October 28-29, 2004
Is it a school day?
Your tax dollars at "work."
Is this legal, to have teachers bused to a political rally during school hours? Isn't that a use of taxpayer money for partisan purposes?
if you don't know, even with their glorious time off, these people accrue sick time and sabbatical time and personal days off....as if our kids didn't need every single hour of every single day to learn what they need to know to function in this world....
"learn"....now that's a good one....
I just love that that Dems keep busying their "crowds" to the rallies!
No, it's not a school day. It's teacher's convention.
Can someone please explain to me how a campaign that is "winning" has to rally in the most liberal city in Wisconsin only five days before the election? That's like W having to hold a rally in Crawford!
Doesn't sound like a confident campaign to me. What am I missing here?
They are being paid to attend a convention not politic
Our tax dollars at work.
Teacher Work Day. Teacher Work Day. Teacher Work Day. Teacher Work Day.....HA HA
They are so dirty.
If they are being paid to attend the convention, then they should be at the convention. I'll bet these are the same people who cry about having to work after the kiddies go home.
"This years Convention is not only a great opportunity for you as individual teachers and education support professionals to refine your skills and learn new job strategies, it is a chance for the nations best educators to come together and discuss, on a broad scale, what we can do to create classrooms that work for all children in Wisconsin."
Stated purpose of convention

Stated purpose of convention, right.

It's a "Pump Up the Vote Fraud rally.
oddly enough, many of the Kerry union supporters were "off work" the day Kerry was here in MN at his Humpty dome visit.
Fear not. Eventually the teachers' unions will collapse under their own weight. When that happens, education will be left to the free market and everyone will be able to choose the right education for their children, according to their own financial means, of course. Education, like everything else, should be a "get what you pay for" deal.
