REV. JESSE LEE PETERSON SLAMS PUFF DADDY VOTER DRIVE
BOND (Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny) ^ | October, 27, 2004 | Ermias Alemayehu

Los Angeles--Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, founder and president of BOND, the Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny, and organizer of The ‘Black’ List Campaign, today accused rap mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs and his nonprofit organization Citizen Change of using a scare campaign to get blacks to vote against President George W. Bush on November 2nd. Citizen Change, with its “Vote or Die” slogan, is conducting a three-day “get-out-the-vote” initiative geared towards minority voters in swing states. The tour began Tuesday, and will cover Milwaukee, Detroit, Cleveland, Philadelphia and Miami.

Rev. Peterson said: “P. Diddy Combs and his Citizen Change group are a disgrace. Their ‘Vote or Die’ campaign is an effort to scare and manipulate blacks into voting for John Kerry. Most of these so-called ‘disenfranchised’ people don’t care about the issues. All they know is what they’ve been told: Bush is evil. Bush hates blacks. He’s [Bush] going to bring back the draft—and you [blacks] have to vote or you’ll die!”

Combs started Citizen Change earlier this year saying he wanted to register thousands of minority voters who aren’t being heard by politicians. The group claims to be nonpartisan, but in February of 2004, AllHipHop.com reported that P. Diddy wants American voters to turn out in full force this year and remove president George W. Bush from the oval office. According to the report, Diddy said: "[We gotta] get Bush's a** up out that office…"

Rev. Peterson added: “If all Combs wants to do is register voters, then why the emphasis on the swing states? This is why I started The ‘Black’ List Campaign—to expose the lies of Hollywood’s most anti-American black entertainers; and P. Diddy is on that list. This election is very important, please don’t let P. Diddy or Jesse Jackson tell you how to vote.”

I wonder if the Bush twins will still party with P. Diddy? He's an untalented loser.

I saw P Dumpty interviewed by Greta a night or two ago..what an ego maniac this no talent idiot is! He told her that their would be a revolution from him going to CO and registering people to get out the vote. Well, Mr. Dudey, if they aren't registered already, they ain't voting unless there is some fraud committed!

If I were black I'd be insulted by P Diddy and his type. Don't they think black people are smart enough to think for themselves? I KNOW they are.

LOL! I saw his interview with Greta as well. All he talked about was some kind of "urban revolution." Was it just me or was the whole interview him repeating the same answers over and ?

I don't care who or how or when or where or for whom people get registered to vote. It is a good thing to have more people in a society willing and able to vote.

I agree it is a great thing that more people are voting (finally!) but it is irresponsible to go aaround registering people to vote because Puff Daddy wants "to get Bush's @$$ up out of there." What about educating people about the issues?

I disagree with PD's reason to register, but it's no more irresponsible than me encouraging people to register to vote in order to keep Kerry's sorry a** out of the White House.

"P. Diddy? He's an untalented loser." Did Piddley Diddy also get his his cash flow start the same way fashion mogul Russell Simons did, by pedding coke(assorted drugs) state side and abroad? Into the pit of h*ll

I completely understand. I was just trying to state that the "celebrities" if they want to make a so called "difference," they need to also educate people, instead of relying on their celebrity status to persuade votes.

This is true. Why anyone would do or believe anything a celebrity told them to do or believe just because the person is a celebrity is beyond me.

I know-me too! It just baffles me and the more people listen the more arrogant they become.
