9-4 Sox. Lowe's gonna give up 3, but the Sox bats are gonna fly...
I don't have my champagne (er, sparkling white wine...I don't buy French) on ice yet....but I've got a nice bottle of Middleton's Very Rare Irish whiskey with my name all over it.

I wonder if any world series in history was won on the day of a lunar eclipse. If not, it would be only fitting for the Sox to win tonight. The powerof the curse falls to the lunar eclipse.

I had a thought last night while savoring both the Sox victory and a glass of Glenfiddich, Special Reserve. If the Sox win (I just cannot bring myself to say "when"), next year, opening day at Fenway, they should invite Billy Buckner to throw out the first pitch.
I believe it would be a great moment for Buck's and a great moment for the fans.
Any thoughts from the die hard Sox fans in Boston on that?
(I should say that I am also a Dodger fan and Billy Buckner was a fav of mine when he was with the Dodgers)

Good thing you started this so early, it's important to be first. Why don't you start a thread for game 5 while you are at it? That will be tomorrow. Later tonight, you can start threads for games 6 and 7.
It's going to be an uphill battle, but wouldn't it be beautiful if the Curse is confirmed as being so strong that the Cards come back and win 4 straight, so strong that the only reason the Red Sox won the first threee games is so that their hearts can be ripped out of their chests by coming this close and losing.
Never should have traded the Babe. May the curse last another 100 years.

Marquis suffers against deep lineups.
He had a 5.34 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in his last 5 regular-season starts, and followed that with 4 H, 4 BB, 0 K, 3 R/ER in 3.1 vs. the Dodgers and 5 H, 2 BB, 2 K, 3 R/ER in 4 IP vs. the Astros.
The Sox can become the first team in MLB history to sweep a WS and knock four different starters out before the 5th, in addition to becoming the 4th team to never trail during a WS ('63 Dodgers against the Yankees, '66 Orioles against the Dodgers, and Tony LaRussa's '89 A's against the Giants) and, of course, the first team to win 8 straight games in the same post-season. The Cards could join the '89 Giants and the '47 Dodgers as the only two WS teams to not have a starter go a full 5 innings.
The Red Sox have scored seven first-inning runs in the first three games of this World Series. They're the first team in 44 years to do that, and just the fourth in history. The others, according to the Elias Sports Bureau: 1909 Pirates, 1958 Braves, 1960 Yankees. No one has ever scored more first-inning runs than this through three games, so the Red Sox could set the record tonight against Marquis who has given up a 1st-inning run in 2 of his last 4 regular season starts and both of his two postseason starts.
There has never been a full lunar eclipse in the middle of a World Series game until tonight.

Anybody know how many times the Cardinals won 4 in a row this season? Anyone, anyone?
It was a bunch.
I have tix to Game 5...when the Cardinals are on their game, they can't be beat.
Don't gloat too soon, Sox fans...I heard a some Democratic strategist on TV say a Red Sox win would give a bump to Kerry.
W threw out the first pitch as Busch Stadium this year to a HUGE standing ovation. He threw a strike, of course. Kerry threw out a pitch in a Yankees/Sox game...he was booed in his own home town and he couldn't get it to the plate.
Missouri is BUSH country! Home of Cardinal Nation (existed long before Sox Nation).

In 1986, I gave up on the Sox ever winning the World Series saying "I'll believe it when I see it." Well, I'm still not 100% convinced but boy, would I love to be proven wrong!! Fact is, in the last few games they have done things that no team has ever done. They look like champions. They sound like champions. Look, I have done my best not to get my hopes up too high and anything can happen, especially to the Sox, but, I can't help it: GO SOX!!!
To: Gucho
OK, tonight's the big game and not only is the moon full, there's a total eclipse. Can someone tell me what steps the Sox have taken to keep Johnny Damon going into the outfield and howling at the moon or turning into something hideous?
Is security equipped with silver bullets? pardon duplicate post
