well in most places that is true, but at the Illinois ballot box, I can assure you that Mr. Keyes will receive a thorough drubbing.
It is unfortunate, but that is the Peoples Republic of Illinois, where voting democrat has nothing to do with intellectual evaluation of the issues.

IL is so ultraliberal that Ronald Reagan in 1976, running in the presidential primary, said it would be a "miracle" if he got 40 percent of the vote. I think that was about what level of support Reagan got -- 40 percent in a PRIMARY. Of course, IL-native Reagan won the state as part of national sweeps in 1980 and 1984 against the CarterMondale ticket. IL has not been conservative since World War II.
