Kerry Forces Deploy Last Minute Ads In West Viginia, Arkansas and Hawaii (strategery discussion)
ABC News ^ | 10/27/04 | Marc Halperin

The Kerry campaign is expressing concern about daily tracking polls that show President Bush gaining ground in Florida and Ohio.

Bush aides insist that the election will once again be decided in Florida, and annouced that he will be spending Saturday night in Orlando.

Bush's (current) travel plans show he will be playing defense in Ohio and New Hampshire, both of which he won in 2000, but is investing the rest of his time in the next few days trying to wrest states from the Democratic column.

Karl Rove said 2/3 of Bush's stops in the final two weeks will be in states that he lost to Al Gore.

Democrats are shifting their resources to defend Hawaii, but are also eying West Virginia and Arkansas.

A DNC official said last night that the party will probably be on the air with a TV ad by today in West Virgina, and Moveon.Org has bought TV times as well.

Of Arkansas, the offical said that Moveon.Org has made a modest TV buy and The Media Fund has purchased radio ads.

We do. They're counting on a couple of major outlier polls that showed the race tightening in both places. Kinda like CA was "in play" for Bush in the closing weeks of '00.

Kerry also upped the ante in Massachusetts, and has fallen into a tie in New Jersey. These guys are all over the map as more and more people discover the real John Kerry.

... but... but... but... Isn't coordination between the DNC and MoveOn.org illegal????

Heh, as if I expect the FEC to lift a finger to prevent Democratic tricks. Nice to note that the reporter didn't pick up on that. Who are we gradukamating from our J-schools these days, anyway?

Kerry's campaign claims Kerry will be making his "closing arguments" today even though there are five days between today and election day.

That's because it takes Kerry 5 days to finish a sentence.

According to the Note, (internal polling from both sides, plus the newspaper polls) Hawaii is now in play..

If you parse the sentence carefully, it does not mean that the DNC said moveon.org bought the time. It is ambiguous. Whoever wrote it didn't pay attention. However, it certainly doesn't mean that they don't talk. After all, this is dem politics.

I'm glad Bush is now addressing this issue.

A good last minute ad would feature former members of the 101st. Unfortunately current active members can't be used due to military protocol. But former 101st guys who are no longer in uniform should do an ad refuting Kerry and comparing his smear of them with his smear of the Vietnam vets.

Zell Miller should be in WV and AR. He can reach the conservative Dems.

Lookit WHERE they are both campaigning in each of the states. Kerry is playing to his base by campaigning in Philly! But Bush is playing to KERRY's base by campaigning in Youngstown and Detroit!
