Close Count Makes Votes Count
Chippewa County
Oct 25, 2004
Be careful what you vote for, it may come true. One Chippewa Falls man was elected to the County Board after he wrote himself in on the ballot. Karl Larson and his wife voted last April. They noticed no was running in their district for the Chippewa County Board, so they used Karl's name as a write-in. Larson won the 21st District Seat with just two votes and says he is excited to serve his community. "I don't think I'm any more underqualified or overqualified than anyone else," says Larson. "I think it's time we have more imput from your average Joe walking down the street."
Larson says it also proves a few votes can make a difference. "Everybody's got to get out and vote. It's going to be so close." County Board Supervisor Mary Ann King agrees. "With our very close election we have in the Kerry/Bush race, I think that it just should make people realize how very important that one vote could be," says King.
I wrote my self in, in the last election here. I must have spelled my name wrong, as no votes were reported for me.
My wife still gives me grief about being the ultimate loser.
