Hockey Stick Slapped
National Review Online ^ | November 03, 2003 | Iain Murray

One of the pillars on which the alarmist case for doing something about global warming rests is the contention that the 20th century was the warmest in the last thousand years. This proposition is most dramatically expressed in the "hockey stick" graph.............. ************ They found numerous and worrying errors. As they put it, the data "for the estimation of temperatures from 1400 to 1980 contains collation errors, unjustifiable truncation or extrapolation of source data, obsolete data, geographical location errors, incorrect calculation of principal components and other quality control defects." They used the original source data to correct these errors, after which they concluded that "the particular 'hockey stick' shape . . . is primarily an artefact of poor data handling, obsolete data, and incorrect calculation of principal components."

If true, this conclusion is devastating to the "hockey stick" argument, and we must conclude that 20th century was not unusual at all. The warming trend could simply be natural phenomenon; support for the greenhouse theory dissipates; and we therefore have little need to enact restrictions on carbon-dioxide emissions (restrictions that, in practice, amount to restrictions on energy use and, therefore, restrictions wealth).

the myth of global warming based on mathmatical calculations called "the hockey stick graph"

this has been found to be be flawed and the correct scientific models for calculations show that the "global warming" theories are wrong - .

The globel warming "Sky is Falling" claim is based more on a calculated political agenda "(restrictions that, in practice, amount to restrictions on energy use and, therefore, restrictions wealth)."

The many scientic studies, reports, data, etc, have been blatantly brushed aside because they do not fit the right wing political agenda.

The watch word of this group seems to be "Don't bother me with facts!"

Bottom line, the Sun has far more effect on our temperature than anything we will ever be able to do. If it decides to be a bit more active for a while, we will be a bit warmer. This greenhouse gas stuff is pure superstition.

Last week they were attempting to blame the increase in hurricanes on global warming. Just a few weeks earlier, hurricane experts were displaying a graph demonstrating how the hurricanes seemed to follow a pattern. The ones of this year, fit into that pattern.

These lunatic environmentalists are always ignoring the effects of volcano eruptions, etc. as if they have absolutely no affect on the envirnoment. Only things by man can affected it, according to the lies the environmentalist spew.

20th century was the warmest in the last thousand years

Even if this was the case (as now seems doubtful), then that means diddly-squat by itself. In climatological terms 1000 years is the short-term. The idea that a simple causality can be shown from 40years or so of data about CO2 emissions is pure nonsense. Particularly silly is the whole notion of a 'tipping point', by definition one cannot know if such a thing exists or where it is until one has passed it.

0.6 degrees in 100 years. Given sampling instruments of 1900 and 2000, this is a margin of error argument and the truth is finally coming out. But the ignorant and clueless unscientific leftist scum will not give up without a fight. When glaicers cover North America in about 15,000 years, they will still be crying global warming.

When glaicers cover North America in about 15,000 less than 5,000 years, they will still be crying global warming.

We are rapidly approaching the end of a geological “warm” period. The Earth is usually in an ice age, but periodically warms up for a little while.
