I was NOT attempting to make a false assertion about his position. I was stating my reaction to the interview.

Here's what you said that I commented on:

he's saying he OPPOSES his party's platform on civil unions. Basically saying, he has no problem with them. That's different form saying "I am opposed to civil unions, but states are free to do waht they wish"

Well, he did say that in the interview, that he opposed his party's platform...that was a direct answer to a qeustion, by reading. Now, its quite possible he was taken out of context, and maybe he does have a problem with civil unions. It just was unclear. Now, I am glad he reaffirmed his opposition to gay marriage and that he supports the amendment.
