I find it interesting to note that the 3rd Infantry Division just happened to be a little bit busy on April 4th, what with capturing and securing Baghdad International Airport on that day. Most units would have been content with that major accomplishment; time warping to a weapons cache some 60km. away that was still under hostile control just to inspect some IAEA tags and getting back in time to be reinforced by soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division and the 94th battalion in anticipation of a possible counter-assault that night truly make this unit a modern marvel.
Especially CBS!!!!
The statement came after a joint project by CBS' "60 Minutes" and the New York Times reported that the Iraqi government has told the United Nations' International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the stockpile of material for plastic explosives went missing during postwar looting. The IAEA did not publicly reveal the issue of missing explosives until after the CBS-Times report.
It only took ONE DAY to kill this story.
And what did WE get in return?
Why, we got this:
[The source behind the NYT story first went to CBSNEWS' 60 MINUTES last Wednesday, but the beleaguered network wasn't able to get the piece on the air as fast as the newspaper could print. Executive producer Jeff Fager hoped to break the story during a high-impact election eve broadcast of 60 MINS on October 31.]
If Drudge can back that up, we will show that CBS and/or the NYT intended to INFLUENCE the outcome of this election.
The memo overlooks that it was common practice for Iraqis to move munitions out of bunkers to avoid our bombers. If it takes forty trucks to cart the stuff away, the Iraqis had them and would do it.

The source?
Burkett
Mapes
I wonder if McAuliffe is rolling out an ad campaign tomorrow based on this Qaqaa? What did they call that one the day after Rathergate?
DU is becoming unhinged over CNN report, urges all its members to e-mail Eason.Jordan@turner.com at CNN to complain.
I recommend we all e-mail this individual to thank him for staying on top of this story and providing complete coverage.
Did anyone see the following link that some lib blogs are pointing to?
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1098677410357
It mention an "anonymous" source who claims that our troops found the explosives after taking over the area.
"At the Pentagon, an official who monitors developments in Iraq said US-led coalition troops had searched Al-Qaqaa in the immediate aftermath of the March 2003 invasion and confirmed that the explosives, which had been under IAEA seal since 1991, were intact. Thereafter the site was not secured by U.S. forces, the official said, also speaking on condition of anonymity."
If this info is on the level, why the need for this offical to remain "anonymous"? Sure sounds like a Kerry/AP ploy to counter the info that is coming to light regarding Saddam's attempt to move the explosives in violation of arms agreements. Disgusting!!
Hallelujah!
Oh, gosh.....I hadn't thought of that......wouldn't that be just down right SWELL?
And the one the day after the memos was "Fortunate Son."
Big success, huh? Heard of it lately.
Just like everything else - distract the idiots who would vote for him by finding some other false story to propagate. The man is a fool
If they were already in Baghdad immediately after the invasion, then why this big "March to Baghdad" campaign which led up to the collapse of the Saddam's government? I am confused. It sounds like a crock to me.

Aw, what a shame. First their 'September Scandal' and now their 'October Surprise' both ruined. And just because of them durned facts. How dare the truth get in the way of a good ole fashioned campaign of lies! /sarcasm

Imagine if this was NEXT Monday night.
There would have been nothing we could have done to stop the downward spiral.
Do you ever sleep?
Sure.....I slept all weekend and all last night........LOL.
Yeah. I never even heard of the guy until all this. What a loser.
snicker.........:-)
Now that would be an improvement.
Put them in a Chrysler?
There would have been nothing we could have done to stop the downward spiral.
Waiting to release this until the eve of the election would have minimized a rebuttal, but that wouldn't have given enough time for the story to grow. Not to mention time to flood the airwaves with campaign ads.
No, once again they were sloppy and didn't think the truth would come out as quickly as it did.
I have no clue where the alphabet stations are on my satellite dial. never wath those stations. FOX is the only news station we watch.
