Oregon and Washington are simply extensions of Berkley, I miss the Great Northwest, it's beauty and History, it is it's recent History that just takes the G outta Joy.
(Besides after a few years in Texas, I am spoiled, in Oregon and Washington a couple of hours of Driving and you are out of State, in Texas you have just traversed a few Counties.)
Besides Southern Oregon State (which is what it was called when I attended) is a very Liberal Arts, ie the Shakespearian Festival, College, and the story is refreshing when approached from that angle.
