Here he was in his glory days, perhaps relishing the fact that he had invaded Kuwait, burned its oil fields in a dastardly act of eco-vandalism, killed some 5,000 of his own people with chemical weapons at Halabjah, and stuffed another 400,000 or so of his constituents into mass graves.
Did he still possess Weapons of Mass Death? Seemingly not, at least not in the quantities America and its allies expected. But wasn't there another reason America and its Coalition partners invaded Iraq? Didn't Saddam Hussein have ties to terrorism?
The notion that he did not is an article of faith among the critics of President Bush, Tony Blair and their allies. Saddam Hussein, they argue, knew little if anything about terrorism, especially al-Qaeda.
Actually, Saddam Hussein knew plenty about terrorism. In essence, he owned and operated a full-service general store for global terrorists, complete with cash, diplomatic aid, safe haven, training, and even medical attention. Such assistance violated United Nations Security Council Resolution 687.
People who don't believe in Saddam Hussien's WELL DOCUMENTED ties to terror must also believe that Howdy Doody was in charge of the Howdy Doody Show.

Just saw this link on another forum. I hope people here will read it and pass it along to as many people as they can.
Very nice summary, especially on a visceral level - there's nothing quite like seeing the results of suicide bombings.
But shouldn't it point out that nice fellow Mr Zarqawi who wanted and received Saddam-grade medical care (extremely difficult to get in Iraq at the time) is the same person who's been so much in the news with those tiresome beheadings and the like?
If we wanted to get our worst enemies together in the same place, seems like invading Iraq was an excellent way to do it.

President Bush asked the right question this weekend. If Zarqawi were not fighting us in Iraq, what we he be doing? Running a small business?
Ping.
They connected the dots in 1998 but Senator Kerry and MSM can't seem to connect the dots in 2004.
Here is an easy to read chart of what the media was saying pre-911 (and after): Connect the Dots...Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden.
Lots of facts and quotes about the president-wannabe at the John F. Kerry Timeline.

Thanks for helping get the information out there, christie.
