Really enjoyed spreading the word here in Anchorage/Alaska ... lots of thumbs up and only 2 instances of liberals swerving all over the road while wildly gesturing and screaming at me. I smile and wave from inside my F250 diesel 4x4.
Not exactly sure which sticker sent them over the edge ... might have been :
Thanks to you both for being "Great Americans"
Employer information is tracked because that's how they can tell what companies are donating significant amounts to a particular candidate. There are plenty of companies out there trying to skirt campaign contribution limits by having all their employees donate as individuals, when really the money is often coming from the company, or the individuals have little real choice about whether to donate.
I'm having trouble with the Swift Vets donation page. Filled out all my info, hit "Contribute", and it just stays on the same page and doesn't seem to be processing the contribution. I tried twice, and am afraid to try more in case it's charging my credit card each time (and I'm giving a pretty hefty amount on this round). This is the 5th time I've donated to them via this page, and I never had a problem before. Anybody else having trouble? I e-mailed them, but haven't heard back yet, and time's running out!
Thanks for explaining that.
I tried going to the site and couldn't even get on, it must be really overloaded and thus sluggish -- hope that means lots of people are donating. Had you already put your credit card info in when it wouldn't go any further? I don't know anything about the workings of their administration, but maybe you should email them pledging whatever amount, so they know they have it to run the ads -- until such time as you can actually post it to the site with your card.
Yes, I had put in all my credit card info. I included in my e-mail to them, the amount I was trying to donate, and my full name. I just went to their main site again, and had no trouble getting to it.
I reviewed all my inputs and found I'd forgotten to put in my zip code. After that, hitting "Contribute" got me to the next screen, where I was able to hit the "Charge my credit card" (or something like that) button. I think it worked this time, but the next screen I got after that was the blank donation page again, with all my info gone. Don't recall it working that way before. Oh well, hope they got my $$.
Well I just went to the site again, and did get on this time. Just for grins I donated another $25 to see if it would go through, and it did no problem, right away. I have high speed internet. (Am now thinking maybe you were just trying to get people to do what I did! LOL. Good strategy! It's for a good cause.) Anyway, don't know what to say about yours not going through. Did you check the little box at the bottom of the form (prior to last screen)? (something about citizenship or such)
Aha, that makes sense, thanks. So if somebody somewhere runs my name, it should show I've donated money to the Swift Boat Vets? Or is it only very large amounts? I don't care who knows it, I just wondered how it works.
Oops, just saw your final post. Great.
another $25 for some true heroes!
I think the threshold is either $200 or $250 per donor per year, and smaller amounts don't get reported in any public records.
Thanks so much all who responded. You are true Patriots. God bless you.
