It is informative that the poll is not readily available for examination. The first question I would have asked is: what does the poll show in the presidential? The problem for Carson is that he is not running for the U.S. Senate in a vaccum, but has to swim upstream against a landslide for Bush in his state. With more and more people voting straight tickets, Coburn has a very strong advantage. Bush will carry him over the finish line in Oklahoma. I'm not saying there are no ticket-splitters. Obviously, in Pennsylvania and Iowa, Republican Senators will run significantly ahead of Bush. And, in Wisconsin, Feingold will run ahead of Kerry. A big difference between Oklahoma and these other three states is that the Presidential close, and relatively small number of cross-overs can make the difference. Oklahoma is a bolow-out situation in the Presidential. In Indiana, Bayh will win in a landslide, even as Bush wins in a landslide. But, the Indiana situation isn't comparable to Oklahoma, either, since in Indiana, we're talking about a well-established incumbant running for re-election.

You are right about that, though I remember that Bush was more like a pt or 2 ahead in the 2000 election, but this is the ONLY poll that the Tulsa World has published recently(and on the front page)...compare it to all of the other polls...

That is not true. The DUI really hurt Bush the weekend before the election.

The only poll that had Bush up by 8% in 2000 was Rasmussen then known as Portrait of America.

Kind of like the Bogus poll coming out of Arkansas yesterday. This is all about depressing the Republican vote. Everybody vote.

I disagree on that. Polls taken the day before, for the most part, showed Bush up by 3 to 5 points, some as much as 8. Zogby was about the only one to show it a tie.
