Newspaper Casts Doubt on Kerry's Talks with UN Security Council (or...Kerry LIED)
CNSNEWS.com ^ | 10/25/04 | Susan Jones

Posted on 10/25/2004 5:32:10 AM PDT by kattracks

(CNSNews.com) - Sen. John F. Kerry says he met at length with all the members of the U.N. Security Council the week before he voted to authorize the use of force in Iraq. But did he?

According to a Washington Times investigation, Kerry talked to at least a few members of the panel -- but "no such meeting, as described by Mr. Kerry on a number of occasions over the past year, ever occurred," the newspaper said.

"The revelation that Mr. Kerry never met with the entire U.N. Security Council could be problematic for the Massachusetts senator, as it clashes with one of his central foreign-policy campaign themes -- honesty," the article said.

Kerry repeatedly has emphasized his willingness to listen to other nations. "This president hasn't listened," Kerry said in the second presidential debate.

"I went to meet with the members of the Security Council in the week before we voted (on authorizing the use of force in Iraq). "I went to New York. I talked to all of them [members of the U.N. Security Council] to find out how serious they were about really holding Saddam Hussein accountable," the Washington Times quoted Kerry as saying in the second debate.

The newspaper also refers to the following exchange at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York in December 2003:

ANDY NAGORSKI (Newsweek): Senator, it's one thing to say that diplomacy on Iraq was bad. It's another to suggest that good diplomacy could have brought everybody along, as you seem to do. Do you think you really could have brought the Germans, the French along in a commitment to use force, if necessary, if you had been president?

KERRY: Yes. (Laughter, applause.)

NAGORSKI: Would you care to explain how, especially given --

KERRY: Absolutely. Absolutely and unequivocally.

NAGORSKI: If --

KERRY: I will explain. Let me explain to you very specifically. Thanks to some friends in New York, I was invited to come up and meet with the Security Council in the week prior to the vote, and I wanted to do that, because I valued my vote. And I wanted to know what the real readiness and willingness of our partners was to take this seriously. So I sat with the French and British, Germans, with the entire Security Council, and we spent a couple of hours talking about what they saw as the path to a united front in order to be able to deal with Saddam Hussein.

But of the five ambassadors on the Security Council in 2002 reached directly for comment by the Washington Times, four said they had never met Mr. Kerry.

"The four also said that no one who worked for their countries' U.N. missions had met with Mr. Kerry either," the newspaper reported.

Why would any member of the UN set aside 2 hours to talk with the junior Senator from Massachusetts about anything before he emerged on the national stage as a contender for higher office??
LIES!

"The lies keep on coming. I am not surprised by this, the libs don't even care, they take Kerry and Michael Moore at face value, what can you say?"

There comes a saturation point concerning the lies - at least for some people. I was a democrat until clinton shook that crooked finger of his in all our faces while lying he did not have sexual relations with that woman... That made me sick to my stomach, but I still didn't switch party affiliations until algore stood there and said that he thought clinton was the greatest president EVER. Small lie for some - for me, the straw that broke the camel's back.

I say, keep calling skerry on his lies. It may/will affect some people's votes I believe.

The reporter who broke this was on FNC this morning. Unfortunately he did this story a diservice by sounding partisan- he would have been better off just reiterating tthe facts. I think this is important however as ususal, the media is focused on the missing explosives story. This story will get lost in the MSM today and the 'other' story will become bigger. Sad but true unless the administration can respond to this better than they have thus far.

John Kerry is a serial liar, and that is why he is loved by the rat party members and the Eurotrash.

Kerry Lied? Kerry lied.

While Molly Hennenberg just mentioned this earlier on FoxNews. . .mentioning only Columbia;maybe Spain and one other Country - but none mentioned above in this story. I went to FoxNews home to find more info; but this story is not even posted there.

This news seem to pale in comparison to such smaller headlines as:

•Peterson Defense Returns

•Japan Quake Kills 25•

Karzai Assured of Afghan Win

•Retailers Face Blue Christmas

•'Grudge' Held Against Affleck

I did learn however, that Kerry has yet to get the scores right on his home team win that has had him so giddy lately. (his words; of course)But, no doubt; he WILL be forgiven his mistake.

Well, he did talk to them before he decided not to.

Or he actually did talk to them before he didn't. They must have just forgotten he did.

Kerry's mother was still trying to get him to be honest on her deathbed. Unfortunately, even that effort failed.

All I can say is that if America does elect this maniac for president I don't want to hear them say 1 word, not 1 word if we get attacked again. or is he is caught in a lie, or if just one thing goes wrong in this country, I don't want to hear one word from anyone who voted for him...In fact that will be my first question to anyone who complains in that 4 years...Did you vote for him? and if they say yes I'll just laugh in their face!!!

You got that right. On Jan 21 we will have to start putting "Dont blame me" sitckers on our cars. Of course many Kerry sycophants will still stand with him even if the terrorists were to take over America.

No his campagin is saying that it was a closed door session but the UN says it has no record of such a meeting. Secret clandestine meetings that never really occurred. Kerry is delusional and he is lying to America and he promised he would never ever do that ... Integrity, Integrity, Integrity. Secret meeting seared in my memory..

John Kerry is Insane.

You know that's a good bumper sticker idea. Although I don't think kerry will win. I actually see a landslide in my mind. I believe very strongly that the choice will be clear as people stand at the booth.

Here's my problem with Kerry's story. Even if he did actually have contact with all members of the UNSC, and discussed the various lines of action in dealing with Iraq, he still voted for the use of force.

If he talked to the French and Germans, who apparently were never going to go along with the President, why did he vote for "the wrong war"?

My first reaction: Kerry lied--again--so what?
But PLEASE let's not shrug this off. This is a BIG lie about a BIG fact concerning a BIG issue in a forum that had BIG importance. This is more than a lie to protect oneself, such as Nixon and Clinton lies. This is sick lying. This man should NOT ever get to become POTUS.

Obviously the media are not going to do their job on this. Why should they start now? But the Bush campaign ought to make some devastating ads and run them in FL, OH, and other states. I would also love to hear Mr Bush talk about it on the campaign trail. He still is too decent to come out and just call Kerry what he is, a LIAR, but he can question his truthfulness.

And if they answer 'no,' the next question that should be asked (and I intend to) is 'Did you vote at all?'

My 70+ year old mother is a life-long 'Zell Miller' Democrat. A couple of months ago we were talking and she said that there was no way she'd be voting for Kerry, and that she was planning to sit out this election. I was able to convince her that not voting for President Bush would only help Kerry. She will be voting for President Bush!

Every vote in every state is important this year. Anyone who doesn't vote can keep their complaints to themselves.

I certainly hope this isn't the earth shattering, Kerry destroying news we've been waiting for all weekend. We already know Kerry lies and his supporters don't care. It's going to take a lot more than this. Besides, no one can seriously think this will played up on the MSM.
