Thank you for that very uplifting story about a truly remarkable person.
All those (your sone included) her selflessly serve humanity in their varied capacities are blessed children in God's eyes. We are all so very thankful for their service.
You mentioned Barefoot Bay and the horrible destruction. I lived there for several weeks in 1997/98 with a co-worker while separating from an abusive and psychotic ex-husband. This co-worker was kind enough to give me shelter in her double-wide manufactured home even though it was at great risk to her own well-being.
It was during that time that I met .45MAN (thank God) and began a friendship that led to other more serious matters - LOL!
I have very dear memories of Barefoot Bay and my heart aches for all of those that lost their homes. That kind person who took me in no longer lives there, luckily for her.
I know well those kinds of personal situations, and how God always finds solutions for them.
Despite the pains that challenge us, they can lead to other brighter days where we can fulfill the Plan He has for us, as better and stronger persons ourselves -- you and Dan are prime examples, and appreciate one another all the more because of the past, I'm sure.
(My husband's oldest sister worked at Barefoot Bay as the secretary for them until she died in 1995.)
