RBC, 22.10.2004, Moscow 19:13:43.The lower house of Russian parliament has recognized the recent parliamentary elections and a referendum in Belarus as open and democratic. Russian deputies have adopted a corresponding statement today prepared by lawmakers who observed the voting.
The State Duma said in its statement that negative assessments of the elections by some US and European politicians as well as threats to impose discriminatory measures could be regarded as attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the independent state and violation of the norms of international law.

Polish government dont support sanction against society but politicians. Their people can easily come to Poland and compare their Gulag with our country. Maybe we will create radio "Free Belarus" because they have awful propaganda.

I love trouble. And you're going to love it even more when Lukashenko is shown the door and the people of Belarus turn their backs on Moscow, like so many other of Russia's neighbors.

I don't care one way or the other - what I ask is why sanctions on Belarus when we free trade with - even more evil by far - China? What good do these sanctions do to help 11 million poor people? Isolate them more and drive them closer to Lukashenko's regime.

Dont compare China and Belarus, cause Belarus is small nation and international powers can effectively make pressure for their politicians if they are uncivilized. Sanctions against politicians are good idea cause that kind of sanction doesnt have any transfer to the position of the society. We should show them what the are losing now with Luka, maybe then they will at last get rid of him.
Do you agree with my diagnose below:
Russian politicians are happy that shitty country like Belarus is now with Luka, is friendly for them. They will do everything to support Luka and keep Belarus as shitty country, because they are afraid that without Luka Belarus would stop be a shitty country and maybe new leader would prefer Western Europe than Russia. Now they are trying the same with Ukraine. Deep friendliness with Russia is suicide for every smaller country.

That is disgusting - Belarus is not even in China's league for tyrrany AND WE WILL MAKE HER PEOPLE SUFFER BECAUSE WE CAN BULLY BELARUS AROUND?. In addition such sanctions drive people closer to their regimes. - See Cuba. Sanctions are the tool of the international Left.

but what is your proposition to solve their problems? Um, stop being a busy body and let them solve their own problems? That is the Conservative ideological solution. Maybe France and England should have sanctioned America over our Civil Rights problems?
