Libertarians vs. Bush

The Libertarian Party, appealing to Democrats for funds, is targeting the battleground state of Wisconsin as a place where they could make the difference in preventing President Bush's re-election.

Wisconsin Libertarians are asking money for their presidential candidate, computer consultant Michael Badnarik. Their appeal promises Democrats that ''we will use 100 percent of your donations to run television and radio commercials that specifically target conservative voters who might otherwise vote for Bush.''

''We don't want Bush to win in Wisconsin any more than you do,'' says the Libertarian Web site. ''As a Kerry supporter, you may disagree with our message, but you win and we win when you donate to this project and get your friends to do likewise.''

Libertarians siphoning funds from Democrats in a quest to siphon funds from Republicans?

I like it. It's just perverse enough to be funny, and confusing enough to appeal to Democrat supporters.

Oh, maybe I shouldn't have said confusing...

"It's nuanced enough to appeal to Democrat supporters."

I'd say that this has to be a first, but “There is nothing new under the Sun” and Libertarians supporting Socialists probably isn't new. It is just plain dumb. Or is this strategery

As a card carrying Libertarian who is supporting Bush, this is beyond the pale. I'm guessing that these folks are from the pot loving wing of the party.

Where can a true conservative feel at home anymore? I'll just have to visit Wisconsin's graveyards, assume a couple of identities, and cast several votes for Bush to counteract this lunacy.

I pray every day and night that Bush wins. God help the Republic if Kerry should get in the Whitehouse

This is an excerpt (not identified as such, I see) of a full Bob Novak article posted correctly here

Ah, housekeeping. It never ends around here, does it?

Apologies on the excerpt comment. Still should post the full column to prevent reposts, IMO.

Yes it's an excerpt - - but if I'd posted the entire column, with the headline for the entire column, nobody would have known (from reading that headline) that this very interesting info about libertarians helping democrats, was reported as a separate news item in the column. Doing it this way is the way to draw attention to this item.

A Libertarian nation is something that can only evolve from a Republican nation - never from a socialist-Democrat nation. Libertarians who cannot understand this are the reason they are so widely panned by conservatives who share most of their views and should be their closest allies.

Why are the Libertarians doing this?????? I am a conservative libertarian myself and I find this sickening. I lost support for the Libertarin Party for a long time. Don't they know that John Kerry hates a lot of libertarian ideas. Kerry wants to socialize medicine.
