I often wonder why the left is so viciously attacking George Bush with regards to Iraq. After all, the attacks started well before it was discovered that Iraq may not have had WMD and indeed, well before the war itself. Furthermore, it wasn't as if though Bush was attacking a free, democratic, and peaceful nation. It also isn't the first time a war was conducted without UN approval (e.g. the intervention in Kosovo which had no UN security council support either).
My own theory is that there was such huge support for Bush after 9/11 that the left suddenly feared extinction. Left wing ideologies, in an attempt to remain relevant, have become increasingly bizarre, oppressive, and dependent on conspiracy theories as the foundation for it's arguments. Broad support for a conservative president would almost certainly have signaled the end of the hard left. Thus, the left yielded their most powerful weapon - the media. Gradually, every conspiracy imaginable was presented as the truth. Repeated often enough, it eventually started to resonate with some less informed individuals.

I think it's simpler than that - the idea of being all big one happy family, one community, with welfare and one doctrine...you can find all this in Islamofascist thinking as well as socialism. While there are differences in implementation, the agreement remains.

Thank you so much, Ivan. It's truly an awesome letter!

Way to go, Ivan! I was so angry when I read what that columnist wrote that I was speechless. I hope there are enough of your fellow countrymen who feel like you do that they will run this guy out of town in disgrace. Thank you for your words.

Bravo! I am an American of British descent (last name
Nelson; family moved to Mass. in 1600s) and I agree with your open letter. What I'd like to tell the Guardian and their meddling readers is a British expression of
disdain: PISS OFF :)

As others agree ... brilliant! Please try the Telegraph! It'd be great to see in Britain's largest paper!
Only thing is a couple of typos - there's a "z" in "civilization" and "realize". Hee Hee! ;-) Good job!

Great letter, Ivan. Thanks for your efforts!
I have a question that you might be able to answer. I remember reading somewhere that the Executive or Chief Editor of the Guardian is in fact an American. Can you shed any light on whether or not this is true?

Here's ownership info on the Guardian and lots of other background. According to another source it reaches 3% of the UK newspaper readership. There's a Soros connection, too -- scroll down to "International associations." It's always been a left-wing rag supportive of communist and socialist causes around the world.

Shame, shame on you all. Amen
It's one thing to disagree with the President's politics .. but to openly print a request for someone to assassinate a sitting President was absolutely disgusting
