Intelligence agents have identified the first French national known to have been killed fighting with the insurgency [sic, "terrorists" is meant here] against US forces in Iraq, officials said Friday.

The 19-year-old, named as Redouane El Hakim, is believed to have travelled to Iraq via at the start of the year and been killed in a US bombardment on Fallujah in July.

Officials close to the case, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Hakim was one of several French citizens of Muslim background who have gone to Iraq to fight along insurgents [sic] there.

The French have to be desperate to send Muslim kids to do their fighting. The French must have sent him out with a good supply of Gucci purses to throw.

I just picked up a copy of Our Oldest Enemy (buying through link will send a few bucks to National Review Online) about the history of our relationship with France. "Allies" my deep blue eyes, they've been an enemy since the get-go.

Not enough people know that our first post-Revolutionary armed conflict with a nation-state was against France. True to form, we kicked French ass.

Good news / bad news.

Good news is that france finally has soldiers fighting in Iraq.

Bad news is they're fighting for the enemy.

Are these the french troops John Francois kerry promised us?

What a great book. I have read a number of reviews. Got to get it......Just heard the story of the biggest French naval battle in WW2, they sunk 44 ships in Toulouse Harbor. Yup, they were their own.

Can we make an exception to the boycott for Martel V.S.O.P. Cognac?

I mean, Charles "The Hammer" Martel kicked Muslim butt out of France at the Battle of Tours in app. AD 732.
