Whether the attacks were motivated by racial or ethnic hatred remains an open question, though black leaders say they do not believe bias has been the root

These two groups have hated each other since I was a little kid.

I was talking with a Mexican friend, who made the exact same observations about both sides, that this article made...In local bars where Hispanic immigrants gather, they complain that blacks are jealous of their economic success and are out to get them. In the African-American community, there is grumbling that Hispanics are "taking over" - that they speak only Spanish and that Hispanic businesses rarely hire blacks.

But his most intriguing observation is, that he considers blacks "foreigners".. Blacks come from Africa, Mexicans come from the North American continent.

Just some thoughts. The current influx of illegals puts competition on the lowest wage earners, inner city blacks. At the same time, the affirmative action and welfare programs that had long been used to buy their loyalty to big government. This is a recipe for conflict and it will not be pretty.
