Fighters Escort Two Small Planes Away From Bush Rally
POSTED: 3:48 pm EDT October 23, 2004 UPDATED: 5:31 pm EDT October 23, 2004
MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Federal authorities said Saturday two small private planes violated restricted air space over a campaign rally by President George W. Bush at a Melbourne baseball stadium.
Fighter jets escorted the plane to Merritt Island Airport near Cocoa Beach, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The Secret Service has interviewed the pilot. FAA spokesman Greg Martin said further action is possible.
Reporters covering Bush's campaign event said the military jets drowned out Bush's words at Space Coast Stadium.
Earlier at a Lakeland event, a plane was escorted to an airport in nearby Winter Haven after it violated the president's airspace.
The activity in the sky repeatedly distracted the crowd from Bush's speechs.

Hillary was in FL - there were 300 people - ROTFLOL!!
Tally-ho...Fox one!
Semper Ho,
300 People to see Hillary? BWAAAAAAHHHAAAHAAA!
Before a competent pilot takes off he usually checks in to the air traffic control system for a NOTAM (Notice to airman) I live near Crawford (P-49)and the flight restrictions change depending on when the President is home.
The fighter jets overhead were so loud and we couldn't figure out why they were overhead- then the sight of this plane wandering over the stadium area with our President standing there with Marine one behind him was unnerving at the least. The 73 yr old professed "snowbird" acted oblivious to the restricted air space. But why did he come from Ft Lauderdale north?
Right after they prosecute S. Bergler.
Naughty little plane...In Israel in a similar situation the plane would go "Kaboom".
