Javier Solana: pullout from Gaza and that peace would come automatically, we won't support that

The EU's foreign policy chief Javier Solana told Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Nabil Sha'ath on Friday that the EU will do its "utmost" to ensure "faster" movement on the road map.

On November 5 Solana is expected to present a plan at a summit to be attended by the heads of the 25 EU countries, dubbed in Israel a "street map," to move the sides into a position where they begin to implement the road map.

After meeting with Sha'ath in Brussels, Solana said that the EU will support Israel's disengagement from Gaza if it meets the following five requirements:

It takes place within the context of the road map

It represents a step towards a two-state solution

It does not involve a transfer of settlement activity to the West Bank

There is an organized and negotiated hand-over of responsibility to the Palestinian Authority

Israel facilitates in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Gaza. Solana also said the EU will present the Palestinians with a working plan for after disengagement. "We are ready to contribute and to co-operate with our Palestinian friends on all the elements that they need: security, or administration reform, or whatever is necessary," Solana said.

Within the context of security assistance, Solana said in an interview released Saturday with the German weekly Der Spiegel, that he hoped to send European experts in cooperation with Egypt to train Palestinian security forces within the coming months.

"Probably together with Egypt, we will send well-prepared people so that the Palestinians can enact a sensible command structure and also have the ability to fulfill their duty," Javier Solana was quoted as saying.

He also called on Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to pull out of all the occupied territories.

If Sharon believes that with a "pullout from Gaza everything is already done and that peace would come automatically, we won't support that," he said. "That wouldn't be a dream, but a nightmare."

Sha'ath, following his meeting with Solana, went to Paris and met French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier, who returned Tuesday from a three day visit to Jerusalem.

Barnier expressed French support for the disengagement plan, calling it "positive," and urged the Palestinians to "seize the opportunity" and give it a chance.

He also called on the Palestinians to pursue reforms called for under the road map.

"There is an urgent need to get out of this spiral of violence and despair that sweeps across this region and beyond," Barnier said.

Sha'ath suggested that the United States - one of the road map sponsors along with the European Union, the United Nations and Russia - was distracted by the upcoming American elections and expressed hope that progress would be made after November 2.

"After the American elections, there will be an opportunity for Europe-American work," he said.

Israel's response should be the One Finger Universal Procreation Salute.

IOW, our allies (the Palies) are going to begin slaughtering each other as soon as there is a power vacuum. Therefore, we superior Europeans will step in and run the show.

This could get quite amusing.

"he hoped to send European experts in cooperation with Egypt to train Palestinian security forces within the coming months.

"Probably together with Egypt, we will send well-prepared people so that the Palestinians can enact a sensible command structure and also have the ability to fulfill their duty,"

Translation; "The EU and Egypt will teach the Palestinians more modern and organized combat tactics. They can then properly marshal and control their military to fulfill their duty to eliminate the Jewish problem."

This is not about peace, they even say in the article "If Sharon believes that with a "pullout from Gaza everything is already done and that peace would come automatically, we won't support that," he said. "That wouldn't be a dream, but a nightmare."

So it is not peace that they want. Even if it started with the pullout that would not be enough? They want Israel destroyed.
