Powerlineblog.org: We Just Got A Tip (Breaking Story on Kerry?)
Powerline ^ | 10/23/04

We just got a tip......that a major newspaper will break a front-page story Monday morning that could create a serious problem for the Kerry campaign. We don't yet have any details, but it relates to a foreign policy issue, and it will call into question--amazingly enough--John Kerry's truthfulness.

We'll watch for the story Sunday night and post it as soon as it becomes available.

As far as I'm concerned, it all ties together. Kerry has been conducting a shadow State Department, meeting with foreign dignataries and conducting negotiations, just like he did in Paris with the NVA. The film of the KLA fund raiser is just tangible evidence of one instance. It is all the same, though.

I speculated about the shadow cabinet. The KLA is one aspect of it, on the fundraising side. If he has actually been meeting with or having Holbrooke or other minions meet with Iran, Syria, etc., that might be illegal.

But, the Democrats will point to it as proof that he is able to put together an international coalition.

I'm pretty sure that it is illegal and we know that accepting donation is illegal.

"But, the Democrats will point to it as proof that he is able to put together an international coalition."

Exactly, that's how I see that one being spun. It will have to be blatantly illegal and prosecuted immediately to swing a single vote.

Sadly, I'm inclined to agree with that. Most voters will not grasp the illegal and unethical nature of Kerry's meeting with representatives of Iran or Syria. They would regard it as a normal part of Kerry's senatorial duties or valid preparation for his presidential challenge.

I would much prefer the public see some photos of Kerry burning the US flag back in his VVAW glory days.

I am putting all my money on the POW-MIA committee that Kerry chaired, someone knows he closed down that investigation into POWs in VN and has a link to his cousin's making a fortune off the normalization. That is my best guess. It is out there, it is old news that msm hasn't paid attention to, it is damning.

He shredded those papers, we know it, recent post from Village Voice I think covered it but no one paid attention. Maybe someone has copies.

It's a joke, that is not the story that will be coming out from what I can gather reading all the posts on this subject.

Here is the article that this speculation is based on. If this is all there, is, that Kerry lied about meeting with the Security Council, the story is not going to have much effect.

Kerry Says He Met With UN Security Council
In the same speech to a Unity Conference of minority journalists where John Kerry criticized President Bush for his immediate reaction to the 9-11 attacks, he again raised the assertion that he had met with foreign leaders prior to the vote on the war in Iraq on March 11. His latest comments shed some light on exactly who those foreign leaders were.

ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) August 11, 2004 -- (GoodNewsAmerica.us)- In the same speech to a Unity Conference of minority journalists where John Kerry criticized President Bush for his immediate reaction to the 9-11 attacks, he again raised the assertion that he had met with foreign leaders prior to the vote on the war in Iraq on March 11. His latest comments shed some light on exactly who those foreign leaders were.

" I believe in my heart of hearts and in my gut that this president fails that test in Iraq. And I know this because I, personally, and others were deeply involved in the effort with other countries to bring them to the table. I met with the Security Council of the United Nations in the week preceding the vote in the Senate."

It still remains to be known with whom he met on the Security Council, unless it was the entire Security Council. If so, there is no official record of Kerry formally meeting with the full Security Council.

Further, if he did, nothing has been found documenting permission given by the State Department to do so.

The History
At a Hollywood, FL fundraising event on March 8, Senator John Kerry announced he had received word from unnamed foreign leaders who wanted to see him defeat President Bush in the November elections.

"I've met foreign leaders who can't go out and say this publicly, but boy they look at you and say, 'You've got to win this, you've got to beat this guy, we need a new policy,' things like that," he said.

Although Boston Globe reporter Patrick Healy revised the original quote from a pool report to "more leaders", Mr. Kerry did not back down from his assertions. Again on March 14 Mr. Kerry made his claim, but continued to resist naming names while under pressure after remarks by Secretary of State Colin Powell.

"I'm not going to betray a private conversation with anybody," he said. "I have heard from people, foreign leaders elsewhere in the world who don't appreciate the Bush administration and would love to see a change in the leadership of the United States."

The Washington Times conducted interviews with embassies of countries opposing the war in Iraq and concluded that there had been no meetings between Mr. Kerry and foreign heads of state since the beginning of 2003. After a review of Mr. Kerry's schedule, it was shown he had no opportunities for personal meetings with foreign heads of state, save one on September 24 when the New Zealand Foreign Minister was in Washington. Several foreign leaders including Germany's Schroeder and the Australian Foreign Minister deny any contact with Kerry.

I don't think that’s it. This is being billed as an October Surprise. In order for this to be put in that category, it has to be real damaging to Kerry. It’s something he can't worm out of. The story would have to strong enough to force him down in the polls and or a backlash. Since its being release officially Monday, I believe it is devastating. The reason I say this, if it were minor you would disclose it lets say Thursday. By coming out Monday it gives it more credibility, the information has time to circulate the internet, talk radio, etc. It also takes Kerry away from campaigning in order to repute the allegations.

This is probaly the single issue that I am most disappointed in the President for. I dont understand how we can say with a straight face we are in a war with terror while we arm the muslims and help them murder innocent Christian men, women and children.

Disguisting and repulsive are not strong enough words for my feelings about Kosovo and I felt this way from the first day slick murdered women and children to keep his bj off the front page.

The fact that we do next to nothing to protect our borders and we help muslims kill Christians in other parts of the world keep me skeptical about any actions we take in other parts of the world against the same muslims. There is no difference between the muslims that murder non muslims in Kosovo and the muslims that do the same in Iraq.

I've never been able to get beyond this whole open question about Kerry being officially discharged in 1977-1978, even though he stopped serving in 1973.

The lack of curiosity by the media (yeah, yeah I know) is astonishing.

Whatever the story is, the Kerry people know what it is and they know it's coming.

whoever said WaPo would be the source of any October Surprise vs Kerry, are you kidding me, they just endorsed Kerry for President

the only way they would report anything if it was too big to sit on and they wanted to outscoop another paper

they'll be the source of any October surprise vs Bush

The reason it might be released Monday as opposed to Friday like the DNC would do is perhaps precisely because the MSM may be reluctant to pick it up like the Swift Boat Vets but if enough of the alternative media picks up they won't have
a choice so then it might take to Thursday Friday

plus the polls suggest, even Zogby is reluctantly giving the mo' (momentum) to Bush so maybe you drop a bomb now to continue the mo'
