That's fair. However, I think this is a great reason to go nondenominational. Go back to the Bible rather than constructs of man and hierarchical leadership that enforces corruption from the top down at some point.
Independent churches, as with the home churches in Acts, are the most stable and faithful way to go. Keep the accountability local but allow honest Christians from anywhere to encourage what is right.

UMC churches vary in their strict biblical allegiance, as well. I visited one in Jackson, Mississippi that, except for the characteristic Arminian theological bent of Methodism, could have passed for its Southern Baptist brethren.
