"This means that, once international emissions trading starts, Russia will have a significant surplus of emission quotas that it can sell to other countries that have ratified the protocol," Wallstroem said.

Who cares what the EU wants or what Russia did...it means nothing to us.

Presses? More like, licks their chops as they line up an effort of coercion against the US.. Like, does not one member of the EU have a clue as to how the US responds to arm-twisting?

Now we can sit back and watch as the EU and Russia's economies either 1)get crushed under the fiscal weight of Kyoto, or 2) find out that none of the private companies in either country follow the accords anyway (which they do now with any other regulation).

Anyone who wants a laugh at the stupidity of Euros when it comes to Kyoto, and a few other foreigners & U.S. liberals as well, read
this thread. The best part is when the guy says Germany and France will
enforce the treaty.

We know why they want this because these countries can't compete with us on a level playing field so they are trying to tip it their direction. This has nothing to do with global warming at all it is just a ploy to put our economy in a bind.

Dear EU:
As per the Kyoto Accords which adversely affect only us, we've given it much thought. Our summary conclusion is this: It's okay with us once we get confirmation of snowballs in Hell.
Sincerely,
Joe American

This is just another way for the Euros to get their hands on American taxpayer dollars. They are taxing their citizens so much - in support of their Socialist governments, that they need another source of cash. They (and we) had better hope that America never turns to Socialism, because the kitty will quickly run dry.

This is why Russia signed up, period: to be able to sell major pollution credits and benefit from protectionist Eurotrash trading agreements.
Of course they will cheat, as will all the rest of the Eurotrash. The entire enterprise is phoney as the "oil-for-food" scam. But it will be used to cut the US out of trading with the "Kyoto nations."

This is designed to accelerate the transfer of America's industrial base to China.
And it will do it.
