Philadelphia Inquirer ^

WASHINGTON - Ralph Nader asked the U.S. Supreme Court yesterday to place him on the ballot in Pennsylvania for the Nov. 2 election.

In a sign the high court planned to move swiftly, Justice David H. Souter immediately requested that Pennsylvania officials file a response to Nader's emergency request by 2:30 p.m. today.

PA Ballots are STILL up in the air. Ballots cannot be mailed until this is settled, why won't the Dems/Nader just give it up and let the ballots be mailed. Because this way they can disenfranchise the military voters. Ballots must be mailed, (no fax) back to PA by oct 29. Clinton Appointed Activist judge has already ruled that the military do not have to get ballots that are correct, that no matter when they finally get mailed out, they must be back by Oct 29, that they cannot accept fax ballots. PA is polling very tight, military votes could swing this state.

I'm afraid PA will be the Florida of 2004.

Military votes WILL swing this state! + They are basing John Kerry winning on the turnout of black voters in Philly last year, but REMEMBER John Street, Philly's (Black) Mayor was running......at least Rendell (Idiot) seems to think that all these Blacks will come out for kerry....IMHO there is no way in hell they are coming out to vote for Kerry, thus making Bush win PA easily....

I thought we had open elections in this country. Trying to keep Nader off the ballot is the same as suppressing votes. People like Hannity, who don't think he should be on the ballots, are just as bad as the dems. I don't see anywhere in the Constitution that says you have to be approved to run for president.

... and yet, they still robotically insist that it's actually THEY who really, truly want to see "every vote counted"... :)

But the governor has refused to extend the return deadline for military voters. I don't see that there is any way that they can get get their vote counted. It should be criminal.

I get the feeling that even though he was prepared for the road blocks the Dems would put up to stop him, Nader is still somewhat surprised at what lengths they have gone to.

According to votenader.org 34 states have his name on ballot. Michigan still in court, but on ballot. 5 other states in court. Gee, do ya think they may be running out of time?

Ralph Nader asked the U.S. Supreme Court yesterday to place him on the ballot in Pennsylvania for the Nov. 2 election

Question .... Has Nader done this in any other State that that he's been kicked off the Ballot

Or has it been ONLY in PA that he's taking it to the USSC ?

I think you have to keep the ballot size reasonable and the law in PA is a fine threshold, but the judges in this case threw out so many ballots that it became absurd.

My dad already voted Absentee. Nader wasn't on the ballot. Logistically, it ain't gonna happen.

I understand ... but it could add to problems if there is a recount in PA

Absentee ballots have been mailed with Naders name. I received one and voted already. The problem is that if Nader is not on the ballot then all the ballots currently filed with his name are void and won't be counted.

We have a governor that stood in front of the microphones in Florida 2000 and said that every vote must count and now he is saying that the number of absentee voters, the military primarily, is insignificant to matter.
