A socialist is merely a polite communist. A socialist believes himself moral because he only uses coercion instead of murder to gain his ends. (But the ends are ultimately the same.)

A socialist is merely a polite communist. A socialist is a communist who doesn't quite yet grasp the truth that for his philosphy to prevail requires the enslavement and murder of other human beings. Upon coming to this realization, a socialist happily becomes a communist.

They both have a gun at your head. A socialist hasn't yet come to grips with pulling the trigger because he hopes he won't have to. But if he needs to, he can find a Communist who is willing.
