CANTON, OH -- With less than two weeks until voters decide an increasingly intense race, Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards yesterday slammed President Bush as incompetent and out of touch with problems facing Ohioans and the rest of the nation.
And Vice President Dick Cheney is a hypocrite, Edwards told a crowd of 1,000 at Canton Memorial Civic Center, for saying this week in Ohio that terrorists could strike U.S. cities with nuclear weapons and Democrat John Kerry isn't tough enough to protect the nation.
"I think it's the height of hypocrisy, coming from a president and a vice president who invaded the one country in the 'axis of evil,' as they call it, that did not have nuclear weapons,'' Edwards said.
"They abdicated the threat of dealing with Iran to the Europeans. They abdicated dealing with the threat in North Korea to China.
"They have been absolutely incompetent about the threats facing this nation.''
Making his 14th visit to Ohio, Edwards campaigned yesterday in Canton, New Philadelphia and Steubenville, three communities hit hard by job losses.
With polls showing the candidates virtually deadlocked in Ohio, both campaigns are making almost daily visits.
Today, Kerry will be in Columbus, where he'll be introduced at an appearance by Dana Reeve, widow of actor/activist Christopher Reeve, while Cheney campaigns in Sylvania, a Toledo suburb. Bush, back for his first visit to the state in nearly three weeks, will be in Canton on Friday.
And Edwards returns Sunday for a bus tour through western Ohio, starting in Cincinnati and ending in Toledo...

Edwards is showing us how he helps the Terrorists. He says the President of the United States is 'incompetent' during a time of war. Mighty serious charge to make, and I pray he gets the consequences as this is obviously false.
Incompetency in time of war would have been if Bush did nothing after 9/11 (like Clinton after Sears Tower, etc.). Impeachment hearings would have just been concluded and the president ready to loose his position. But since this has not happened. Since the War in Afghanistan has just concluded with successful elections and Iraq is on the way, Edwards is spitting into the wind.
May he end up like Al Gore.
This pair (Kerry/Edwards) seems to think the Bush administration is the "most incompetent and dishonest" we've seen. I guess that's becaused they missed so much time-on-the-job up on the Hill during the Clinton years.
Let the dems spend all their money now....Bush has $105 million in campaign funds and Kerry has $79 million. Bush campaign knows what they're doing.
Bush is incompetent??? Not as incompetent as a certain senator from NC who has been AWOL from the US Senate for most of 2004 and even missed the Tobacco Buyout Bill that affects farmers in his "home" state. Most of NC hates this bastard....he knows this as he chose not to seek a second term in the Senate. I look forward to making Edwards jobless on November 2.

This is the dsnger of Democrat rule---they have a built-in excuse for everything. If, as President, they get everything they want, and something doesn't work out, they will blame Republicans for NOT STOPPING THEM from getting everything they want.
