. . ."Rather than "forgetting" "schoolteacher" and "librarian," Laura Bush's jobs before her marriage, Missus Heinz inserted the qualifier, "I mean, since she's been grown up," precisely to exclude them. Although Missus Heinz proceeded to marginalize those jobs ("my experience is a little bigger"), Heinz's real target was the job of stay-at-home mom."
Well, she knew she had children; so don't where she goes from here. . .
Think the 'reading is definitely on target here; but do wonder if their could be a tad more in Teresa's comment 'since she been grown-up'. . .and her choosing precisely those words because they express if not betray, Teresa's deeper - unspoken assesments of Laura. . .and her 'growing up' middle class.
The Mz.Heinz-Kerry, is not only impressed by her heiress/philanthropist title; she stops just short of describing herself growing up, as a little 'african princess'; and who, should her husband 'ascend to the Presidency; will be America's First 'Queen'.
["My roots are African. . .The birds I remember, the fruits I ate, the trees I climbed, they're African." ] She just forgets to remember. . .the servants. . .
The Kerry Kampers might want to begin to secure that lock on the attic door where they try to keep the wonderfully amusing and mad Teraaaaaaaayza!
Thanks for the ping
